**Health & Safety Supervisor, Thunder Bay Sawmill**

**The Health & Safety Supervisor is directly responsible for providing support and direction to ensure site health& safety systems meet company and legislative compliance. **Your responsibilities**:

- Leadership support to Operations Management & Supervisory group on Health Safety & Environmental issues.
- Develop and communicate Resolute Health & Safety (HS) policies, procedures and certification programs.
- Provide site HS&E leadership through management by example and relationship development.
- Assist with the environmental support and ISO-14001.
- Provide comprehensive and effective HSE training. Design and implement training to address any gaps identified.
- Create opportunities for expanded employee involvement and participation in HSE matters.
- Lead and/or oversee incident investigations and drive HS action items to completion.
- Conduct periodic assessments or inspections of HS programs to identify and correct deficiencies related to compliance with the HS policies and procedures.
- Develop, organize and communicate metrics to track HS performance.
- Provide support on all disability management and return to work programs.
- Health and Safety orientation for new employees and contractors.
- Co-ordination of Health and Safety recognition program.

**Ideal profile**:

- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health or safety, industrial hygiene, environmental engineering or science, or other relevant field.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written);
- Ability to work as part of a team, to communicate with all levels of the organization and to adapt quickly to change;
- Solid analytical skills and the ability to quickly make sound decisions based on experience and judgment even when the information available is incomplete and/or you are under pressure;
- Excellent project and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong sourcing, recruiting and staffing capabilities
- Experience using data and metrics to identify and address Safety issues and trends
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated strong facilitation and issue resolution skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including making presentations to leaders and teams
- Understanding of federal and provincial employment laws

- Reporting to the Sawmill Manager, Thunder Bay Sawmill, you will be part of a dynamic team to which you will contribute vital skills.

You will view Thunder Bay is naturally home to epic outdoor adventures. In and around the city, there are hundreds of parks and conservation areas ready for you to explore. Find golf, mountain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, angling and sailing opportunities within in walking distance; and Lake Superior - the world’s largest freshwater lake a mere stone’s throw away as well as the pleasures of many winter activities including skiing or snowmobiling. Other notable sites include:
