Child & Youth Worker/Communications Service Co-Ordinator

About Routes:
Routes Youth Centre is a space for Dundas & area youth aged 8-19. Routes offers a number of programs to help facilitate growth, provide support, encourage skill-building and offer low-barrier recreation opportunities in a community setting. We offer a variety of drop-in and structured programming for youth, in addition to off-site trips. Routes is committed to fostering a welcoming space for youth and staff, and works to advocate for social justice and human rights while challenging oppression through its work in the community.

**Job Description**:
Routes programs.

The position will assist with on-going creative digital, social media and marketing campaigns, aimed at youth as well as the general public. The individual will proof-read promotional material, media releases, and corporate communications; at times, join the

Other duties including assisting in the planning and facilitation of youth programs, such as social and recreational activities, community outings, and therapeutic workshops, and/or outreach and community engagement with youth in Dundas and Hamilton
- Assisting with the facilitation and organization of youth day trips, as required, which includes providing youth with transportation and supervision in a variety of settings, including a local community pool
- Leading and supervising group programs
- Develop new and innovative programming opportunities for youth
- Participating in meal preparation and clean-up
- Planning and organizing fundraising and community events
- Completing report writing and evaluation of programming while maintaining other Centre documentation
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements/Qualifications/Skills:
Applicants must fit the eligibility criteria outlined by the Canada Summer Jobs program.

- Relevant college/university diploma or degree (e.g. child and youth care, early childhood education, social work), equivalent experience in a related field, or working towards the same
- Previous experience working with youth ages 8 to 19 is required
- Experienced in marketing and content creation
- Strong digital literacy skills
- Knowledge and ability to implement anti-oppressive practices
- Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
- Comfortable and able to work effectively independently
- Willingness to learn accurate forms of documentation and report writing for the Centre
- Creativity and self-motivation are essential
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (completed in the last 12 months) required (successful applicant will be reimbursed upon hire)
- Valid G Ontario Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle with $2 million dollars of personal liability insurance is an asset.
