Logistics Responder Volunteer

**Volunteer opportunity conditions**:
- Location : In-person
- Minimum age : 18 years or older.
- Minimum volunteer hours /period : Ability to respond in local community (3 days minimum) and outside of their community (10 days minimum)
- Specific requirements:
- This position requires a satisfactory Criminal Records Check required and satisfactory vulnerable sector check or a satisfactory Enhanced Police Information Check (EPIC).
- This position requires a valid Drivers License and a satisfactory Drivers Abstract.
- The incumbent may need to stand for several hours.
- Ability to respond during non-traditional hours (i.e. late night or weekends) and long hours of work in a demanding context.
- Ability to be on-call when scheduled, as required.
- Personal protective equipment will be supplied, as required.

The Supply Chain and Logistics (SCL) Team is looking for volunteers to be part of their mission. The Volunteer may provide services locally or at a field operations team level and may coordinate material supplies, goods and vehicles, through established procurement, tracking, warehousing, distribution and transportation processes during a response.
**As a volunteer in this role, you will**:
**Responsibility 1. Assist with SCL resources, materials, supplies and equipment required for the operation**
- Assess resource requirements as assigned, ensuring the appropriate SCL processes are followed.
- Assist with the demobilization and repatriation of supplies and equipment.
- Participate in operational briefings and debriefings during a response with the logistics team.
**Responsibility 2. Carry out inventory, warehousing and stocks management requirements**
- Ensure adequate stock when opening site, maintain appropriate level of stock during response and complete a close of operation inventory/reconciliation.
- Coordinate with logistics service providers to store and ship goods.
- Track and receive shipments from suppliers, making note of any discrepancies or damage.
**Responsibility 3. Assists with transport required to support the operation**
- Supports the transportation service unit including monitoring vehicle safety, dispatching vehicles, and participating in shipping activities.
- Assists with the demobilization of the fleet and maintains necessary documentation.
- Communicate and report on the progress of the provision of transportation services.to the SCL Supervisor.
**Responsibility 4. Planning and Preparedness**
- Participate in SCL team member orientation & training.
- Assist in sourcing suppliers, creating new agreements for goods and services needed for operations and updating
the contact information in the suppliers tracking sheet.
- Contribute to ensuring response supplies are properly stocked, available and conducts inventory reviews as required.
**You bring these essential talents**:
- Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and or a minimum of one year of work-related experience in logistics, procurement and/or supply chain management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Computer literacy: Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Knowledge of procurement, transportation, warehousing or distribution an asset.
- Language requirements - must be able to deliver services as appropriate in English or French.
- Customer Service Skills - Excellent interpersonal skills, including handling interactions with colleagues, suppliers, and the public.
- Communication skills - verbal and non-verbal cues, active listening, clearly able explain self and confirm understanding from others.
- Remains calm during a crisis - Don’t allow emotions to get in the way, don’t take things personal, stay positive, respond decisively and take accountability.
- Ability to work well within a team - share information, be helpful, respectful, approachable, build strong relationships.
- Attention to detail - accuracy in completing forms, giving information.
- Dependable - Timely, takes initiative and ownership of work, completes tasks without being asked or with little supervision.
- Ability to lift and carry goods weighing up to 50lbs or assist in carrying goods weighing up to 80lbs.
- Ability to climb stairs, as well as transition frequently in and out of a vehicle.
