**Job Description**:
The Vice President, Communications, Canadian Operations, reports directly to Global Chief Communications and Sustainability Officer, and will lead a team of communications professionals.

The critical focus areas of the role include market visibility and reputation, business communications, strategy, and transformation communications.

**What you will do**
- Develop, strengthen, and manage strategic relationships with top-tier media, industry analysts, and influencers.
- Leverage relationships to secure strategic media opportunities that advance Canada Life’s business objectives, client interests, company initiatives, and related activities.
- Develop and lead a communications strategy for all reputational issues and crises.
- Drive and manage executive communications and thought leadership opportunities, including high-profile media appearances/interviews, speaking engagements and industry forums.
- Support the senior leadership team in interactions with media by providing messaging counsel and coaching, and proactively identify opportunities to drive earned media
- Work collaboratively with segment media relations to ensure messaging is aligned and consistent.
- Build an influencer network by cultivating relationships with existing influencers and identifying new prospects to help us elevate our brand through rich and relevant third-party commentary and endorsement on issues and topics strategically important to Canada Life.
- Monitor emerging issues, trend analysis and serves as corporate spokesperson and point of contact for media enquiries on Canada Life corporate issues.

**What you will bring**
- Bachelor’s degree with an advanced degree or certifications preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant, progressively senior experience with experience in a leadership role.
- Ability to lead and influence collaboration, accountability, and innovation across the business and functional areas.
- Experience building and leading a team of seasoned professionals.
- Passion for the financial services industry and intellectual curiosity.
- Extensive knowledge of multi-line business dynamics.
- Strong leadership including both building and leading teams.
- A proven track record of liaising with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Creative thinker and strong collaborator.
- Ability to influence direction of work.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
