It is a ribbon that connects Canada’s diverse landscapes, seasons, people and experiences, and it fosters unity, collaboration and connectedness.

Trans Canada Trail (the organization) is a registered charity that stewards this national trail in collaboration with community-based partners. With funding from the Government of Canada through Parks Canada, and investments from all levels of government and generous donors, Trans Canada Trail is the largest investor in trail infrastructure projects in Canada, supporting improvements, growth and enhancements for the benefit of generations to come.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

The **Manager, Donor Relations** is an important role within the Philanthropy team, leading and executing strategies that engage our donors to ensure they understand the critical impact they are having on the Trans Canada Trail. The Manager, Donor Relations ensures the cultivation and stewardship of donor relationships through proposal development, relationship management and stewardship initiatives, as well as some fundraising activities like third-party events. The Manager, Donor Relations is responsible for creating and implementing plans and strategies to improve donor retention, increase donor engagement and broaden our base of support.

Reporting to the **Vice-president, Chief Development Officer**, the Manager, Donor Relations will work closely with the entire Trans Canada Trail team to support the strategic goals and objectives of the organization.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Prepare and deliver high quality proposals for leadership prospects and donors
- Develop and write grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations, persuasively communicating the organization’s mission and programs to potential funders
- Provide accountability to donors on the use of their funds, as well as their measured impact through reporting processes
- Lead the creation and maintenance of donor stewardship matrix in accordance with stewardship best-practices
- Support the development and growth of third-party / independent fundraising events, including the creation of plans and budgets to grow revenue
- Collaborate with the Communications & Marketing team in the development and implementation of strategic donor communications through channels like social media, Annual Report, annual giving campaigns, gift acknowledgments, web pages, invitations and press releases
- Act as primary organizational contact for foundation donors, and coordinate donor communication with / from other teams, as needed
- Track and measure donor activity and engagement in database
- Ensure stewardship is built into the organization’s existing fundraising campaigns and events
- Support Philanthropy team priorities to maximize revenue opportunities
- Support in the process of issuing organizational acknowledgment, tax receipting, thank you letters and pledge reminders
