**_DUTIES _**
Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Student Counsellor is an energetic and dynamic individual who is committed to excellence in student
support and care. The position involves providing supports to students in community programs for student success. The Student Counsellor
will work within a multi-disciplinary team approach which includes UCN’s sponsoring agencies for student success. It is the expectation that
the Student Counsellor will observe standards of behaviour consistent with their role as an employee of the University College of the North.

**_REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS _**:

- Bachelor of Social Work required, as well as an active membership with the Manitoba College of Social Workers, and demonstrated
- related experience; other appropriate combinations of education and experience may be considered- Understanding and/or experience with counselling post-secondary students and students with disabilities
- Presentation and facilitation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office & Zoom)
- Demonstrated ability to understand and to deal with issues specific to Indigenous learners and mature students in northern Manitoba
- Commitment to life-long learning
