**_ THE OPPORTUNITY_**

This is a unique moment in time for vaccines in Canada: The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the general awareness of patients, prescribers and payers of the importance of vaccination. For decades now, Canada and most other G20 countries have implemented robust vaccination programs for children. Unfortunately, when it comes to adult immunization program, there are significant gaps and barriers. In Canada, adult immunization rates are persistently lower than in children, even for comparable diseases.

Now, with older adults making up an increasing proportion of the population in countries like Canada, and given the continued individual vulnerability of older adults to infectious diseases due to age-related decline in immunity and the higher risk of comorbidities, there is a need for greater focus on vaccinating older adults. This is a pragmatic response to the reality of demographic change guiding our current public health needs. To help tackle this challenge, the Canadian Government Affairs and Market Access division is growing, creating are looking for a new role of Vaccines Access Strategist. Focusing on both the public and private market, the Vaccines Access Strategist will work cross-functionally to develop and oversee the execution of timely and innovative plans and tactics to help influence public and private payers to strengthen coverage of NACI-recommended adult vaccines; and help remove persistent access barriers that inhibit the uptake of vaccines.

**_ THE IDEAL CANDIDATE & RESPONSIBILITIES_**
- Depth of experience in project management tools, including planning
- Strong attention to details
- Proven ability to “work in the grey”
- Ability to liaise and excellent interpersonal skills for interactions with high-profile stakeholders in a matrix environment
- Strong written and verbal communication and influencing skills to ensure an objective representation of ideas and opinions and the ability to adjust based on audience (senior leaders, colleagues, etc.).
- Above-average PowerPoint skills to create crisp and impactful presentations.
- Highly motived self-starter and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in an agile manner.
- Demonstrated fearless collaboration across functions and “swim lanes” (i.e. helping to break silos).

**_ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS_**

Access strategy design: informed by evidence and relevant external and internal insights, reporting to the Manager of Vaccines Access Strategies, this individual will lead the development of plans and tactics that will successfully influence both public and private payers to strengthen coverage of NACI-recommended adult vaccines.

Oversee execution of plans and tactics: working through our regionally-embedded national public health managers, as well as other appropriate resources (e.g. market access consultants, etc.) this individual will monitor progress achieved against KPIs, and course-correct where necessary. The Strategist will also be responsible for coordinating payor insights gathering and communication to the Market Access and other relevant teams to support the development of innovative MA and commercial strategies By systematically assessing insights that have been collected by our customer-facing employees (and other sources), identify emerging public payor priorities and areas of interest that align with GSK business priorities to identify potential win-win projects, or partnerships that could differentiate GSK.
