Cornwall, Canada Centre 105 Cornwall - Community Ministry of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa Full time

Centre 105 is looking to hire a **Support Worker - Summer Student** position. The role will report directly to the Executive Director of the Centre 105, which is a community ministry of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa, located in Trinity Anglican Church, in Cornwall. Centre 105 offers all visitors a hearty breakfast, ongoing coffee service, a safe place to socialize, a laundry program, a shower program, and social/recreational activities. We also offer referrals to other service partners and agencies. We are currently open three mornings a week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 9:00 am until 12:00pm.

**Responsibilities and Duties**:

- This is a position that requires the employee to interact with vulnerable individuals, who are accessing Centre 105 to receive a meal and to enjoy the social component of interacting with other participants.
- Being present in the venue while open three mornings a week, interacting with the participants.
- Assisting with breakfast service, handing out meals and drinks to participants, and helping with the main hall and kitchen set-up and clean-up, as necessary.
- Helping to safely facilitate the laundry and shower program.
- General cleaning duties.
- Monitoring the use of the washroom and adjacent hallways.
- Working with other staff to maintain a safe, welcoming, non-discriminatory atmosphere in the drop-in and responding quickly and appropriately to any situation that threatens the safety and well-being of participants, staff and volunteers.
- Adhering to Diocesan policies and protocols on sexual misconduct and workplace harassment and discrimination, as well maintaining and respecting required professional boundaries on privacy and confidentiality.
- Being able to work within the mission and values of our community ministry.

**Ideal Qualifications and Experience**:

- A current and valid vulnerable sector police check is required.
- Ability to work as a team to maintain a hospitable, safe atmosphere rooted in mutual tolerance and respect.
- Ability to acknowledge and respect diversity in all persons.
- Ability to deal with unacceptable and unsafe behavior in a quick and appropriate manner, responding to each situation as required by appropriate circumstances. Seeking assistance when and if necessary.
- Available to work onsite on the mornings of **Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday**, as these are the days in which Centre 105 offers a meal program. There may be future changes in scheduling to respond to visitors’ needs or operational requirements.
