Accounting Assistant
**Position Type: Full-time, permanent**

This position plays a key role in the success of the Edmonton Meals on Wheels finance team and is under the supervision of the
Finance and Operations Manager.

The Accounting Assistant is the first point of contact for day-to-day financial transactions, GL Account reconciliations, processing vendor invoices and payments. Along with providing accounting support to other departments, the incumbent will have exceptional organizational and time management skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to pivot in a fast-paced environment.

**POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Ensures accurate data entry of day-to-day transaction into accounting systems
- Processes and posts CAFT and EFT payments
- Works with Client Services department to process monthly statements and issues third party invoices
- Reconciles daily cash and payment transactions from client management system
- Prepares and delivers bank deposits
- Processes weekly accounts payable and reviews vendor statements
- Processes month end transactions and clearing account reconciliations
- Supports the Fund Development department by creating charitable receipts
- Other duties as required

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate in accounting
- 1-3 years direct experience, non-profit experience considered an asset
- A high degree of accuracy with a strong attention to detail
- Must possess excellent time management and organizational skills
- Quick learner committed to continuous learning & improvement
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills coupled with highly developed written & verbal communication skills
- Clean vulnerable sector check
- Driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract

**SALARY AND HOURS**
- 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays.
