**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- 1) Mission and Values_

Responsible for upholding and embodying Tay River Health Centre’s mission and values and promoting a patient-centred and collaborative model of care to facilitate access to primary care services for patients.

Activities:

- 2) Administrative Responsibilities_

Provides reception and administrative support services and operates and maintains appointment, chart and document management systems for the medical clinic.

Activities:

- Maintains and keeps patient records organized, including preparing charts with previous records, enrolment forms, incoming and outgoing faxes, OHIP numbers, pharmacies, patient demographics, etc.
- Receives all clinic telephone calls, provides information or redirects as appropriate.
- Schedules appointments for patients with appropriate providers.
- Greets and registers patients seeking medical care in person or by telephone, including appointment booking and retrieval of patients’ charts.
- Supports the organization by performing administrative functions including faxing, scanning, printing charts and sorting and distributing clinic mail.
- Communicates with patients in a timely, courteous, professional, cooperative and mature manner.
- Recognizes and responds appropriately to violent/abusive situations, etc.
- Accurately take messages and convey information to the recipient.
- Transfer calls to clinical staff when medically indicated.
- Preserves and protects patient confidentiality.
- Accurately enter procedure codes with correct diagnosis.
- Provide back-up support to colleagues from time to time.
- 3) Care of Environment Responsibilities_

Responsible for contributing to overall operations/functions of the organization.

Activities:

- Maintains a safe working environment.
- Keeps front office and reception desk clean and tidy.
- Maintains an open line of communication with colleagues.
- Supports and complies with Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Supports the student and volunteer placement programs.

**Education and Training Requirements**
- Diploma in Medical Office Administration or equivalent, relevant work experience in a primary care clinic or post-secondary school diploma or degree in office or business administration is required.
- Two to three years of experience in Community and/or Primary Care Setting.
- Experience with experience with administration support of healthcare professionals and management.
- Up-to-date basic CPR with AED training.

**Communications Skills**
- Strong sense of order and ability to be organized in a busy environment.
- Excellent communication, people skills, and common sense.
- Ability to effectively interact with physicians, patients and other staff members in a professional manner.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Ability to effectively multi-task.

**Technology Skills**
- Demonstrates knowledge of proper, safe, efficient usage of current office equipment/software.
- Knowledge of Telus PS Suite electronic medical records.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $19.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Perth, ON K7H0C4: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Medical office: 1 year (required)
