- Under the direction of the Director - Emergency Management & Fire Safety, this position is responsible for directing and carrying out a variety of technical assignments such as fire code audits, system tests, surveys, product evaluations, analysis of emergency plans and procedures, fire investigations, design reviews, fire safety plans, fire safety program development etc. relating to fire protection and prevention within the TTC. Also develops and conducts various training sessions and lectures for Commission employees and Emergency Services personnel.You will be responsible for Coordinating, directing and participating in technical assignments related to fire protection and prevention like conducting comprehensive oversight audits of all TTC facilities to ensure compliance with the Ontario Building Code (OBC), Ontario Fire Code (OFC), National Fire Code of Canada (NFC), Propane Code, Municipal By-Laws, Underwriters Laboratories of Canada Standards (ULC), Canadian Standards Association Standards (CSA), National Fire Protection Association Standards (NFPA), Electrical Code, researching and developing training material for Toronto Fire Services personnel, reviewing design drawings and specifications for new facilities and major renovations to ensure that fire prevention and fire protection concerns are addressed and developing internal programs to create better understanding of fire safety as well as creating an overall safer working environment for employees.You will Coordinate, direct and participate in fire safety activities regarding emergency plans/systems and equipment like assessing needs for emergency equipment and participates in the development, modification, testing and introduction, developing new and reviewing existing Emergency Response Agencies’ emergency plans and procedures, directing the verification of new emergency systems and equipment to approved standards and commissioning and being knowledgeable of the safe storage and handling practices for flammable liquids and gases.You will also develop specifications and requirements for upgrades to existing facilities based on applicable codes, provide interpretation of numerous codes and standards to management and staff, maintain several databases relating to recommendations, fire incidents, training, etc., investigates fire incidents to determine root causes, prepares reports and makes recommendations as well as maintains statistics for fire incidents and analyzing same to identify developing trends and conduct and co-ordinate all aspects of Fire Prevention technical projects including performing the required field work, conducting and co-ordinating tests and surveys, preparing reports and correspondence, and making related recommendations.In addition to the above, you will be Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service provider and an employer.**What Skills Do You Bring?**:
