**JOB SUMMARY**:
The Packing and Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the day to day activities involved in the packaging and warehousing of all of the sugar products being produced. This position includes planning, scheduling and administrative duties combined with hands-on participation in employee supervision, quality inspections, safety monitoring, training, and system/equipment troubleshooting. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that front-line tasks assigned by the Warehouse and Packaging Superintendent are carried out efficiently, safely, and production deadlines are met.
The Packaging and Warehouse Supervisor is familiar with all equipment in the warehouse and be able to troubleshoot when necessary to prevent production slowdowns.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Schedule and supervise employees to ensure required warehouse cleaning is completed, as per the cleaning matrix;
- Work closely with the company’s Site Safety Coordinator to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety policies and practices;
- Address Health and Safety issues as they arise;
- Train and monitor staff in standard operating procedures for their specified job duties, including tool box talks, and communicate health and safety/quality control issues;
- Maintain and approve employees work times through Timekeeper/Kronos daily ;
- Continuously monitor the performance and activities of staff, provide coaching and mentoring when needed;
- Create weekly work schedules for employees including any overtime that is needed;
- Input daily production reports into the computer from operator reports;
- Support Warehouse and Packaging Superintendent in budget preparations, projects, month-end inventory as well as year-end inventory including ad hoc duties;
- Become familiar with the equipment/machinery being utilized in the warehouse, troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and schedule repairs as required;
- Train and monitor staff in standard operating procedures and safe work practices, including new employee orientation;
- Provide ongoing employee supervision where required;
- Sign and verify paperwork, including quality assurance, cleaning matrixes, metal detector sheets, trailer inspection sheets, preventative maintenance sheets, and liquid loading sheets. Verify checks and procedures throughout the shift. Distribute paperwork to lab, maintenance, office staff, purchasing;
- Assist with any other duties as they arise.
**QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**:
- Post-secondary education (degree/diploma in Business Admin or Operations Management);
- Combination of relevant education and relevant experience would be taken in to consideration;
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ supervisor experience, preferably in a unionized environment;
- Experience in the food processing industry;
- Mechanical aptitude, comfortable around machinery. Experience driving forklift, operating a pallet machine and related equipment is an asset;
- Bilingualism (spoken and written);
- Working knowledge of food safety and quality management systems;
- Computer proficient using MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) as well as experience with inventory, packaging control software;
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills;
- Good conflict resolution and problem solving skills;
- Ability to adapt to quickly changing situations, manage stress effectively, effective decision making skills;
- Ability to show initiative, work with little supervision and develop a team environment;
- Ability to perform physical activities including climbing heights, standing long hours, crouching and other related activities.
