OVERVIEW

OPERATIONS

The Operations Supervisor will provide regular coaching, guidance and evaluation for trainers to ensure trainees receive fair, consistent, effective and timely training within specified timelines and budgets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

MANAGEMENT

Managing the work of unionized trainers, trainees and coordinators. Arranging and supervising retraining, evaluation and documentation as required. Ensuring BCMEA management rights are represented.

TRAINING SUPERVISION

Responsible for the on-site delivery of the Quarterly Training Plan targets to ensure that the right people, with the right skills are in the right place, at the right time. Determining the quantity and frequency of training to ensure...

QUALITY ASSURANCE

Responsible for the quality of training programs to ensure that rated workers will be able to productively and safely perform work for our members. Ensure justification for training outside of budgets.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Project management support for Terminal expansions and installation of new equipment that requires training to workers in advance of going live.

TEAM COVERAGE

Providing coverage in Operations Supervisor capacity at Waterfront Training Centre (WTC) as required in day and afternoon shifts.

TECHNICAL

TEAMWORK

Fostering collaborative working relationships with member company representatives, union trainers and coordinators.

SAFETY

Maintaining the safety and quality of our training operations is essential.

COMPLIANCE

Validating course content ensuring that it is current, relevant and meets regulatory compliance.

LEADERSHIP

Responsible to lead by example and routinely complete in field leadership interactions with trainers and trainees.

ANALYSIS

Analyzing existing training programs to analyze and assess quality and efficacy.

EXPERIENCE

Previous experience delivering on-the-job training, particularly in a unionized environment, is an asset. Alternative experience coaching and mentoring on the job in a unionized environment acceptable. Experience...

Ability to successfully manage personnel and multiple projects on time and on budget. Self-motivated and the ability to work effectively with mínimal supervision.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage others professionally on sensitive issues.

DRIVER'S LICENSE

Driver’s License and access to own vehicle required.

CRITICAL THINKING

Aptitude for critical thinking, problem solving and the ability to resolve issues in a timely manner.

TRANSPORT CLEARANCE

Transport Security Clearance Eligible.

EDUCATION

University degree in business, engineering, logistics and/or professional development in Health and Safety and 5+ years supervisory experience preferred or increased supervisory experience would be considered.

ANALYSIS

Strong analytical aptitude, proven research skills and the ability to assess and interpret data.

COMMUNICATION

Good oral and written communication skills.
