**Job Summery**

The RECE/Assistant will support and assist the Educators in the classroom to provide a quality caring and supportive child care program. The individual for this position will addresses the children's unique needs, relieve staff for breaks, supervise, monitor and document the sleep patterns of the children in the sleep-room area.

The individual will meet all regulatory standards required by federal, provincial and municipal governments. This position reports to the Centre Supervisor/Director.

Classrooms include Infants, Toddlers and Preschool.

**Qualifications / Assets**
- Experience in Early Childhood Education settings
- Diplomas/Certificates in Child Education an asset but not required
- CPR/First Aid Training/Current Criminal/Vulnerable Sector Check
- An Understanding of the issues that affect children and their families
- Excellent interpersonal skills with children, parents, staff, community members
- Strong work ethic, able to work well in team environment
- Fluency in English

**Duties & Responsibilities**

1. Supervise, Monitor and document the children in the sleep-room area, familiarize yourself with the Centres Sleep-room policy

2. Understand a daily balance of active/quiet, indoor/outdoor, and individual/group activities in a weekly Program Plan as established by the RECE's

3. Support staff in carrying out a daily activity schedule that incorporates child directed activity, care routines and transition times if required.

4. Relieve Staff for their lunch breaks

5. Assist the Educator's in planning and carrying out developmentally appropriate activities and experiences in harmony with the centre’s philosophy if required

6. Assist children in expressing themselves by listening and responding with questions or comments that extend conversations

7. Encourage and assist children to practice self-help skills

8. Provide experiences during quiet time should the children wake up from their nap.

9. Participate in short and long term planning and evaluation and staff program reviews

10. Participate in staff meetings.

11. Assist in sanitizing and cleaning throughout the Centre at times.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 30-40 per week
