Location: Toronto,
Physical Presence: Hybrid - 3 days per week in office
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Data Governance & Cataloging**:
- **Utilize Microsoft Purview** Data Catalog Portal to develop proof-of-concept (POC) projects that align with metadata strategies and business glossary requirements.
- Expand and maintain the business glossary in accordance with data policies and privacy guidelines.
- **Metadata Management**:
- **Manage and refine metadata**, including technical, business, and operational metadata.
- Conduct **metadata analysis** and tagging to ensure compliance with data governance standards and privacy regulations.
- **Data Tagging & Classification**:
- Implement sensitivity labels and data classifications as per privacy guidelines and information handling standards.
- Assess and tag data elements based on their criticality and sensitivity levels.
- **Technical Support**:
- **Perform metadata analysis and mínimal SQL coding via Databricks to assist with developing regular expressions.**:
- Communicate complex technical details effectively to business users and stakeholders.
- **Monitoring & Testing**:
- Monitor and test functionalities and environments to ensure data governance tools and systems are operating efficiently and effectively.
**Required Skills & Experience**:
- **Strong understanding of data governance principles and practices**.
- **Proficiency in metadata analysis, tagging, and cataloging**.
- **Experience with Microsoft products, including Excel and Purview**.
- Familiarity with Collibra or other data governance toolsets.
- Basic SQL coding skills and experience with Databricks.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and comfort with handling ambiguous information.
- Ability to translate technical information into business-friendly language.
- Experience with monitoring and testing data systems and functionalities.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Previous experience working with data governance in a large organizational setting.
- Knowledge of privacy regulations and data handling standards.
