Your challenge

Radio-Canada is seeking a journalist to enrich its coverage of Rivière-du-Loup and the surrounding area. Reporting to the Senior Manager, News & Current Affairs and Content Development, for Radio-Canada Bas-Saint-Laurent, you will work as a cross-platform reporter, primarily for digital and radio. You will bring integrity, curiosity and resourcefulness to developing original content that matters to our audiences.

You will develop your own stories covering a wide range of topics, ensuring content adheres to CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.

You must maintain a large network of contacts, pitch story ideas related to KRTB region affairs, and provide in-depth and follow-up reporting). You will contribute extensively to radio programs and digital productions. You will conduct research and interviews, write copy, edit audio and video, and produce thorough, fact-checked, dynamic, compelling news content for delivery across various platforms. To succeed in this role, you must be able to work on several stories at once, have strong organization skills and be an excellent team player.

Schedule: Working hours may vary to accommodate production requirements.

What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Three (3) years’ experience in journalism or the equivalent.
- Extensive general knowledge.
- In-depth knowledge of current events in the Lower St. Lawrence region, with a particular emphasis on Kamouraska, Rivière-du-Loup, Témiscouata and Les Basques.
- Solid command of the working language (French) and knowledge of the other official language (English).
- Strong understanding of audio, visual and digital storytelling techniques and interviewing techniques.
- Knowledge of the Corporation’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.
- Valid driver’s licence.

- Good knowledge of digital news production.
- Ability to work well under pressure to tight deadlines in daily broadcast production.
