Andrew Fleck Children’s Services (AFCS) is looking to hire an Educator to work at the Ottawa Forest & Nature School As an ECE Assistant you will be implementing nurturing child-centred, inquiry driven, interest-led learning through play on the land You will meet the needs of children within a safe and healthy environment and in cooperation with parents, colleagues and community professionals.

**In this role you will**
- Prepare high quality forest and nature school programs to preschool and school aged children of varying ages
- Engage in caring, curious and respectful interactions with children to support their growing relationship with themselves, each other and the natural world
- Welcome the diversity of all families, role modelling inclusive and accessible language
- Daily documentation: daily reflections, social media posts, and occasional blog posts
- Promote and encourage children and families in outdoor play
- Work with all staff to further develop and maintain outdoor play areas
- Perform seasonal site benefit-risk assessment (training will be provided)
- Participate in daily site maintenance, including the removal of garbage
- Occasional Support for CECCE

**To qualify for this role you have**
- Degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education, Bachelor of Education, Recreation or Child and Youth diploma
- RECE in good standing with the CECE or member of Ontario College of Teachers or equivalent

- Forest & Nature Practitioner Certificate

- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children in a group setting
- Bilingualism is an asset
- Clear Police Records check in the vulnerable sector completed within last six (6) months
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Certification
- Have a keen interest and comfortability in working with children in the outdoors in all weather and all seasons
- The willingness and curiosity to understand child-centered, inquiry-based learning and play
- Adequate energy level and ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Job requires frequent lifting up to 20 lbs. as well as bending, kneeling, crouching.
- Proven ability to work closely with other team members

**Salary**: $25.61-$29.69 per hour
