Under the leadership of the President, the General Manager will drive the growth and success of City Wide’s towing, recovery, and storage services across Alberta, focusing on branches in Calgary and Red Deer. By mentoring and managing the team to set a standard of excellence, City Wide will build upon their 60+ year reputation in the industry.
City Wide will foster and maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring continued growth, operational efficiency, and superior service throughout the province.
Role Responsibilities
**Sales & Customer Relationship**:
Identify and grow new and existing business opportunities within the towing industry.
Develop and execute a sales strategy to meet or exceed monthly sales targets, driving consistent sales growth.
Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term client relationships, ensuring ongoing satisfaction, loyalty, and trust.
Act as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their business and technical requirements to provide optimal solutions.
Maximize sales growth by maintaining consistent contact with the existing client base and seeking new opportunities to utilize available capacity.
Develop, analyze, and manage business plans for assigned customers to sustain and expand sales opportunities.
Lead contract negotiations with clients to secure long-term agreements.
Establish and maintain a safe, efficient, and high-performing branch within the Urban Life Solutions group.
**Leadership & Operations Management**:
Mentor and manage the Operations team to prioritize health and safety, customer service excellence, quality assurance, and efficient execution, ensuring consistent process compliance and strong brand representation.
Uphold company values and policies with integrity, setting an example for the team and holding all team members accountable to the same standard.
Identify and develop top-performing team members, grooming them for leadership positions within the business.
Drive continuous improvement in service delivery by identifying client needs and implementing innovative solutions.
Understand, define, and maintain service expectations that align with or exceed client requirements for each contract.
Create and implement execution plans that ensure successful service delivery by leveraging internal resources and managing subcontract partners when needed.
**Education, Experience, Required Skills/Competencies**:
Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or related discipline, or a combination of education and experience appropriate to achieve the mandate.
Minimum ten (10) years of experience with fleet/trucking related operations management; towing industry experience is preferred.
Extensive experience selling services in a competitive market with demonstrated leadership skills in achieving sales growth and profitability, as well as brand presence.
Demonstrated ability to optimize sales performance through market analysis and strategic foresight.
Proven experience learning and adopting new technology and software; proficient in the use of fleet management software such as GEOTAB, Fleet Complete, Samsara.
Formal Health & Safety training and knowledge of best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of legislation that may impact sales, management of human resources, service delivery and contracts.
Strong business sense and commercial acumen combined with the ability to execute the corporate and operational strategy across the organization.
Entrepreneurial drive and results oriented focus.
Ability to analyze complex situations, identify key issues, prioritize, and bring solutions to the table.
Practical with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to display and exercise sound judgement.
Possesses a continuous improvement and quality mindset along with strong financial acumen to drive operational excellence and cost efficiencies.

A relationship-based management style capable of establishing trust, respect, and the confidence of others both within and outside the organization.
