**Responsibilities**:

- Preparation of tax returns for corporations, individuals, trusts and partnerships with proper supporting documents - ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations
- Identify, analysis and perform tax research on income tax and indirect tax issues, including written documentation of research findings
- Preparation of complex and specialty tax returns such as deceased returns, multi-jurisdictional filings, treaty-based tax returns, and filings for non-residents
- Preparation of a variety of specialty tax forms such as T2057, T2054, T2062, T1-OVP, RC243, T1135, T1134
- Liaise with tax authorities on all tax matters, including audits and appeals
- Preparation of submission packages for amendment, objections or voluntary disclosures
- Year-end tax planning analysis
- Full-cycle accounting using QuickBooks and Xero, including supervision of a part-time bookkeeper, review of processed transactions, balance sheet accounts, account reconciliations, approval of journal entries etc.
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication, effective client service, and a deep understanding of their needs
- Identify opportunities to expand services to existing clients
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in good standing
- Completed the CPA in-depth tax program or MTax degree
- 6+ years working in the tax department of public accounting firms
- Strong knowledge for corporate income tax, personal income tax, trust taxation, HST/GST and accounting
- Exposure to Canadian international taxation (international tax treaty analysis, FAPI regime, foreign affiliate surplus calculations) and US tax compliance would be an asset
- Experience with personal and corporate tax matters for owner-managed businesses
- Experience in return preparation for individuals and corporations
- Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data, together with attention to detail
- Professional judgement
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written) with the ability to articulate complex information to others including clients
- Strong work ethic and commit to exceptional client service
- Strong understanding of a client-focused environment including related deadlines and the ability to work to meet deadlines.
- Sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters.
- Excellent organizational skills and able to balance competing demands, handle multiple assignments, work independently and as part of a team
