- Delivering a primarily undergraduate program, the School of Health Studies focuses on streams of studies including: Health Sciences, Health and Aging, Health Promotion, Biology, and Rehabilitation Sciences.**Responsibilities**:

- Research Assistant (Digital Health Platforms) will work under the supervision of Dr. Tarun Katapally, DEPtH Lab Director, and collaborate with DEPtH Lab staff and trainees, in developing, implementing, and evaluating digital health platforms. The Research Assistant will support DEPtH Lab’s data collection/mining, processing, analysis and modeling. The Research Assistant will assist with compiling and analyzing research results and will support knowledge translation and dissemination. The Research Assistant will also support the development and implementation of future research projects. The Research Assistant will join an interdisciplinary team working at the forefront of new digital health technology, solving the challenges that impact both the front end and back-end architecture.
- Qualifications:
**Education**:
- 3 year university bachelor's degree in Computer Science

**Experience**:
- 1 year of work experience supporting research in a related technical field

Key Accountabilities:

- Supports the development, implementation, and evaluation of digital health platforms
under direction of the principal investigator
- Assists with DEPtH Lab's data collection/mining, processing, analysis and modeling
- Collects and compiles data, and assists with data analysis using statistical software as required
- Composes and records research results, ensuring quality control of data and analyzes results
- Analyzes and interprets data to develop graphs and related reports as required
- Assists with the data security processes (e.g. Assisting with protocols to ensure that we follow WTS as well as industry guidelines for data security)
- Coordinates and completes administrative tasks, including preparing expense claims and drafting materials for manuscripts, presentations and reports
- Coordinates and makes arrangements for calendars, schedules, events and provides administrative support as required (e.g. progress reports, drafting agendas and meeting minutes)
- Assists with identifying new funding opportunities and coordinates submissions within grant deadlines
- Oversees and provides training to students in common study procedures and safe and proper equipment use
- Coordinates the resources within a lab; monitors, maintains, orders and stocks an inventory of supplies and equipment, and reconciles a purchase card monthly
- Assists with ensuring that facilities are clean and ready for use

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

- Knowledge of digital health products, web frameworks, APIs, and databases
- Familiarity with regulations and guidelines governing research ethics in an academic environment
- Familiarity with techniques for updating, managing and extracting data from a research database
- Ability to collaborate and develop credible relationships with a wide variety of individuals
- Communication skills to describe technical concepts effectively to both novice and sophisticated users
- Ability to write clear, concise and accurate procedural documentation
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
- Ability and willingness to employ a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and making decisions
- Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
- Ability and willingness to stay abreast of technological developments
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe
- Demonstrated ability take initiative, to work independently and follow through on work assignments
- Ability to prioritize and organize a fluctuating work load
- Ability to investigate defined issues, solicit input, and suggest remedies and alternative approaches that meet the needs of the situation
- Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, faculty, and other members of the University community
- Ability to interpret and identify key results from research and to succinctly summarize research findings
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
- Demonstrated working knowledge of relevant scientific/research principles
