**What you’ll do**
- Provide leadership in Social Work professional standards and practice and participate in the planning and coordination of Social Work services at the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital by methods such as provide clinical guidance and expertise, mentor and coaching, and facilitate workplace solutions; develop, establish, communicate and evaluate professional practice standards; develop and oversee a review system to ensure compliance with standards; develop, communicate and evaluate goals and objectives for the discipline to ensure practice is consistent with program and service goals and objectives; and provide advice on professional practice standards, codes of ethics and issues such as registration.
- Provide Social Work assessment and treatment services, including psychiatric/psychological assessment services for adults who have been referred by the courts. Prepare ongoing written assessments of progress and submits written reports to the BC Review Board and/or Review Panel regarding recommendations for release. Collaborate and consult with other professionals in the coordination and review of treatment. Provide psychosocial intervention and treatment services for patients who may be held under Order-in-Council, Mental Health Act certification, Court Order and/or informal criteria.
- Establish and coordinate discipline specific Professional Practice Council and facilitates regular meetings. Represent the discipline of Social Work on Forensic Psychiatric Services (FPS) committees. Serve as an active member of the BCMHSUS interdisciplinary practice structure.
- Provide leadership, direction and guidance in Social Work education, practices, and special initiatives by methods such as developing an education plan to provide continuing education for Social Work staff-discipline specific and interdisciplinary; identifying, promoting and supporting professional development initiatives by practice members in collaboration with the Clinical Services Managers and/or Directors; provide relevant education and training to multidisciplinary staff; and develops orientation materials for new social work staff. Provides orientation to new social work staff.
- Develop and deliver education plans and training for practicum students, provide instruction and supervision to social work practicum students, liaise with educational institutions to coordinate the placement of practicum students.

**What you bring**

**Qualifications**
- Master of Social Work degree from an accredited School of Social Work plus six (6) years’ recent related experience providing treatment services to individuals with mental health and substance use issues including four (4) years’ supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Current full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers (BCCSW).
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate.

**Skills and Knowledge**
- Comprehensive knowledge of mental illness including current trends, best practices and modalities of treatment.
- Broad knowledge of mental health service delivery system, service mandates, referral guidelines, legislation and government policies.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct mental health assessments and to provide treatment planning and case coordination.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Social Work theory and practice within a client and family centred model.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
