This is a hybrid remote/in-person work opportunity. Some work can be done from home, but the role will also require substantial in-person work in the Frankel Lambert Community (Christie/Dupont/Shaw area)

**Terms**:35 weeks, 24 hours per week, as an independent contractor

**Salary Rate**:$30/hour ($25,200)

**Requirements**:Flexible hours, including some weekend and evening time

**About us**:
The Frankel Lambert Outreach Committee (FLOC) is a not-for-profit community organization dedicated to addressing the concerns of the residents of the Dupont-Christie-Davenport-Shaw neighbourhood, including affordable, accessible housing, poverty reduction, and recreation facilities. It is our goal to build a stronger community.

**About the project**:
Housing cooperatives are a long standing and proven system that have enabled many in Toronto to live in democratic, supportive, and affordable communities. In particular, the Frankel Lambert neighbourhood is a success story with its four financially stable and successful cooperatives However, like most cooperatives in Toronto, there is an insufficient number of units to address growing demand from both within and outside our communities and the waiting lists are full. This not only means that they cannot address the growing affordability crisis of Toronto, but that those who grew up in the cooperatives are unable to stay within the community in units of their own as they move into adulthood. In addition, the cooperative housing developments in the Frankel Lambert area, built in the 1970s and 80’s, were not designed with accessibility in mind. As a result, now there are many seniors who are long-time members with a strong desire to remain in the community who cannot easily access their own homes.

**About the role**:
The Project Coordinator will oversee the administration of the project, provide training to volunteers, work together with FLOC members to carry out the project activities, and will be responsible to FLOC’s Board of Directors.

**Responsibilities**:

- **Project coordination**_
- Help support stakeholder management, program design and implementation
- Track and share regular progress updates on project and program deliverables and outcomes
- Explore financial and legal strategies for acquiring or leasing land and funding new co-op development
- Co-ordinate consultation with Indigenous elders and Indigenous community members
- Conduct a community housing needs assessment, using community-based research methods
- Collaborate with the FLOC Board and members to complete interim and final reports
- **Volunteer Management**_
- Facilitate volunteer training and participation to build community capacity for around policy advocacy and civic engagement around affordable housing
- Build the capacity and commitment of neighbourhood co-ops to develop and manage new co-op housing, by conducting and coordinating engagement and training of board, membership, and staff.
- Collecting volunteer information, availability, and skills, and maintaining an up-to-date database
- Oversee advocacy training and organizing
- Co-ordinating for outside experts to provide workshops and trainings as needed
- 3+ years relevant experience in some combination of project management/coordination, community development, affordable/non-profit housing development, and volunteer management/coordination
- Good communication skills (able to speak, listen, and write in a clear, confident, respectful, and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques).
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with differing life experiences; Knowledge and experience of working within an anti-oppression and anti-racist framework
- Well organized, and ability to multi-task
- Knowledge of co-operatives and community/co-op/non-profit housing
- Ability to train and motivate volunteers
- Ability to collaborate
- Proven expertise with policy advocacy and/or engagement with elected officials and government staff is considered a strong asset, particularly with the City of Toronto
- Experience with planning and administering budgets and other administrative duties considered an asset
- Fluency in Spanish considered an asset, based on the language needs of the community
