At **SMS Equipment, **our **Welding Manager **is responsible for the planning, organization and direction of the service operations of welding and machining work. The **Welding Manager **will drive results by developing and managing short
- and long-term planning strategies for business sustainability and growth, processes, and events that foster a positive experience for internal and external customers. This position is in **Fort McMurray, AB.**
The salary range for this position is **$160,000 - $180,000.**
**Responsibilities include but are not limited too**:
- Provide a safe work environment by enforcing safety policies, cooperating with site safety policies, and participating in site specific safety programs.
- Ensures all department activities are conducted in full compliance with safety, health and environmental standards, company rules and processes and other applicable legislation.
- Evaluate and maintain the welding Work Order and Information System to ensure effective and full utilization of the system and to ensure that all service function informational and work order management information needs are met.
- Oversee the equipment purchasing function for the welding dept and provide support analysis and justification documentation.
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager, General Manager and Superintendents, to create, monitor and implement the scheduling plan to effectively manage workload, support business objectives and maximize productivity.
- Bottom Line analysis and review; monitors results and productivity and adjusts plans accordingly.
- Ensure that the service function is delivering the quality and type of service to meet and exceed customer needs.
- Facilitate customer negotiations and ensures timely and effective resolution of product service and warranty issues.
- Assist in union contract interpretation, compliance with company policies, and adherence to quality control standards.
- Direct a team of trades professionals ensuring team direction supports objectives and maximizes internal and external customer experience.
- Seek opportunities to evaluate and develop new or expanded welding and machine business.
- Seek opportunities for involvement in industry associations, or professional organizations in order to develop relationships with end-users of products and services marketed by the Company.
- Other duties as required.
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of labour relations and personnel management.
- Strong leaderships skill with the ability to lead and influence others.
- Ability to develop, plan, and implement short
- and long-range goals.
- Skilled in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and/or projections.
- Ability to analyze budgetary expenditures for compliance with approved budget.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to resolve, implement, and enforce safety programs.
- Excellent employee development and performance management skills.
- Valid Class 5 drivers license.
