AGS is looking for a Health and Safety Coordinator to join our dynamic organization. This role is located in our plant in Cambridge, Ontario.
**BASIC FUNCTION**:
This function is responsible for developing, implementing and/or maintain systems that establish a healthy and safe environment; to be a resource to all workplace parties; and to contribute to the overall quality of the plant's health and safety management program.
**PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**:
- Adherence to the IATF Procedures and Instructions.
- Assess the level of Health and Safety compliance with legislation, internal procedures, and the OHSA and Regulation requirements by regular walk through, inspections, testing, documentation checking etc. and follow up where deviations are found.
- Provide advice, information or recommendations to managers, supervisors and hourly employees concerning health and safety matters, including legislation, and following up where appropriate.
- Work as part of a team and participate in the improvement of new programs and approaches to ensure compliance with legislation and company health and safety policies.
- Co-ordinate and participate in audit activities to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Identify Health and Safety training needs, develop training programs and conduct training. This includes identifying outside contractors to conduct training where applicable.
- Attend and participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings, such as but not limited to inspections, meetings, preparation of minutes as required.
- Develop and maintain systems to effectively analyse injuries and plant safety performance.
- Attend and assist in resolving work refusals and 'dangerous circumstances'.
- Lead team investigations of incidents and accidents as required by company reporting procedure.
- Specify personal protective equipment, guarding etc., as required.
- Coordinate internal Health & Safety training schedule in conjunction with Health & Safety Administrator.
- Create, maintain and analyze tables, charts and graphs to identify trends and focus safety efforts to reduce claims.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Completion of post-secondary education in the field of Occupational Health and Safety or a Bachelor's degree
- Working towards CRSP certification or 5-10 years of Health and Safety experience preferred
- 3-5 years of manufacturing experience
- Thorough knowledge of the OHSA and Regulations
- Awareness of external trends in occupational health and safety
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral
- Effective computer skills, specifically excel and word
- Works well with limited supervision
- Certified in First Aid and CPR is an asset
