Position Overview:
The City of Kitchener is on the lookout for passionate individuals to become our next Temporary Labourer (Wastewater/Stormwater) If you're not afraid to get your hands dirty and want to make a real impact on our community's environment, this is the opportunity for you.
- As a Temporary Labourer (Wastewater/Stormwater), you'll be at the forefront of keeping our city clean and healthy. You'll be responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of our wastewater and stormwater collection system, ensuring that every drop is managed with care. From conducting inspections and repairs to responding to emergencies, you'll be the unsung hero working behind the scenes to safeguard public health and protect our precious water resources.**Responsibilities**:
- Assist with Watercourse maintenance:

- Inspection of stormwater maintenance facilities and stream reaches,
- Brush cutting, trimming, debris clean up, and fence repairs.
- Responding to emergency spills
- Assist with Pipe repairs, ditching and sediment removal:

- Inspection of ditches and culverts throughout the city and assessing and providing recommendation for repair/replacement
- Perform repairs on ditches, culverts, and stormwater/sanitary sewer main and services.
- Remove sediment accumulated in ditches, culverts (inlets/outlets), and watercourses.
- Assist in flushing and cleaning of storm and sanitary sewer infrastructure.
- Assist in pumping station wet well cleaning.
- Operation of snow removal equipment, as required in the winter.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:
- Minimum Grade 12 diploma, or equivalent.
- Valid MTO “DZ” class driver’s license in good standing and ability to provide Drivers Abstract at your own expense as a condition of employment.
- Preference given to applicants with Wastewater Collection License.
- Reliable and dependable with the ability to participate as an effective team member.
- Ability to effectively work with and interact with customers.
- Must be reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
- Please note that as per Human Resources Policy _HUM-HIR-_110, "Employment of Relatives of Staff Members and Elected Officials":_
- "The immediate relatives of staff of the Human Resources Division, all _Directors,_ General Managers_, or the Chief Administrative Officer and Elected Officials shall not be employed by the City in any capacity._
- The immediate relatives of all other Management personnel shall not be employed where such employment would be:_
- 1. within the same Department in the case of permanent full-time, temporary full_-time and part-time classifications._
