**Pathways Project Summary**: Pathways is a national project aimed at creating pathways to meaningful employment for Indigenous youth in the Tourism and Government sectors. Led by FESA, this project brings together Elders, Indigenous youth, literacy and essential skills (LES) specialists, bridging organizations, and employers to provide workplace LES training, mentorship, work experience, and youth leadership development. Pathways also focuses on fostering cultural understanding and supporting Indigenous youth in finding their place within their communities and the work environment.
**Position Summary**: As a Pathways facilitator/trainer, you will plan and deliver both youth participant and partnering employer workshops and training (both pre and post-employment) encompassing employment readiness, IWLC facilitator training, cultural sensitivity training, and LES skill development identified in the needs assessments and by participants, partnering organizations, and employers.
- Previous facilitation and training experience.
- Training and facilitation planning and curriculum development experience.
- Located in Calgary, Ottawa, or Winnipeg.
- Demonstrated experience working with Indigenous communities.
**Responsibilities**:
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions as part of the Pathways project including participant recruitment, preparation and agenda and curriculum planning.
- Collaborate with project partners to develop and deliver effective training materials.
- Provide mentorship and support to Indigenous youth and employers participating in the project.
- Foster cultural understanding and support youth leadership development.
- Assist with creating and implementing strategies for working with Indigenous youth, provide input into training and program development, and provide outreach and support to youth and employers involved in the project.
- Work closely with Elders, Indigenous youth, LES specialists, bridging organizations, and employers to achieve project goals.
**Qualifications & Requirements**:
- Previous experience in facilitation and training, preferably in a community or educational setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
- Understanding of Indigenous cultures and communities, and a commitment to cultural sensitivity and respect. Demonstration of related competencies such as flexibility, self-esteem, maturity, responsibility, and empathy.
- High level organizational skills with strong resourcefulness, accurate priority setting, and data and information gathering.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences, including youth, elders, employers, and community members.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the project and the participants.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Must have access to reliable transportation to travel to and from training workshops with training materials.
- Must be established as an independent contractor and meet CRA guidelines.
- Must have a current and valid police check completed.
**Hours**: Maximum average of 40 hours per month
