_**ChezRachel,**_a bilingual second stage shelter for women and children affected by family violence, is looking for a:_

**Support Worker (full-time position, permanent)**
- *English and good conversational French required._
- **Driver's License and access to vehicle required. _

**The position offers**:
A strong compensation plan - including benefits and flexible working hours.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist the director, counsellor, and administrative staff in their work.
- Provide support, assistance, and guidance to clients.
- Accompany clients to appointments (health related, legal, with external agencies, etc.) and provide support.
- Accompany clients on errands (shopping, banking etc.)
- Provide childcare.
- Collaborate with and provide support to volunteers.
- Ensure a safe environment for clients and their children.
- Help clean, take care of apartments, common spaces, and the building.
- Other tasks as necessary.

**Qualities and qualifications**:

- Knowledge of family violence, gender-based violence, and its impact on women and children.
- Minimum level of education: high school diploma.
- Can demonstrate compassion, patience and empathy when working with vulnerable populations.
- Good sense of organization, flexibility, and teamwork.
- Good knowledge of conversational French and English (orally and in writing).
- Cultural competence.
- Able to maintain a strictly confidential/professional relationship with clients.
- Preferably have current CPR, Emergency First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate, and/or be willing to receive training.
- In possession of vehicle and valid driver’s license
- Knowledge and understanding of community resources.
- NB: Satisfactory Abuse Registry and Criminal Record Check.

**Salary**: $17.00-$18.00 per hour
