**Course description**:
(Offered in Italian) A study of the Italian language, from the 19th century to the present, with a focus on contemporary varieties as spoken and written within and outside of national borders. Changes in the language will be analyzed through syntactic, lexical, and morphological perspectives as well as by looking at factors which affect those adjustments (contact with other languages, media, etc.).

**Salary**:
Sessional Lecturer I - $9,457.90 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $9,930.79 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer II - $10,121.77 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $10,326.62 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer III - $10,362.76 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $10,570.02 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

**Minimum qualifications**:
Applicants must have completed a PhD in Italian Studies, with demonstrated knowledge in the specific area of the course.

(Near-)native fluency in spoken and written Italian is required.

**Preferred qualifications**:
Demonstrated excellence in teaching this course, or a similar course at the university-level, is preferred.

Advanced language pedagogy teaching experience is preferred.

Experience with multi-modal instruction is preferred.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.
