- Successful completion and certification of recognized Orthopedic Technologist education course.
- Member of a Regulated Health Profession.
- Current Registration/Certificate of Competence/Registration with the relevant College.
- Registration/member of Canadian Society of Orthopedic Technologists.
- Current BCLS certification.
- Satisfactory attendance.

- Recent hospital experience (within 3 years), experience with care of orthopedic patients.
- Knowledge of normal patient response and recovery and complications or unexpected conditions or outcomes.
- Ability to request and accepts direction as required.
- Critical thinking skills and recognition of need to consult/refer to physician, Registered Nurse, and/or other health professional.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Effective planning, decision making and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to support and embrace the philosophy of Service Excellence and Patient and Family Centred Care.
- Demonstrated participation in building a culture of safety and partnering with each other to improve the safety of patient care processes and systems.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)**
- Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Ambulatory Care, this position works with physicians and other

health care team professionals in the care of patients with orthopedic injuries.
- The roles and responsibilities are identified as a controlled medical act by the Regulated Health

Professions Act (RHPA), and are delegated through a Medical Directive of the Orthopedic surgeons.
- Functions within the scope of practice of Professional College Standards according to RHPA and

Canadian Society of Orthopedic Technologists, according to delegated responsibilities of Medical

Directive.
- Provides care with required and competency level (skill and knowledge0 in each patient

interaction.
