Foran Mining Corporation (TSX:FOM), a modern mining company that wants to change what mining means to people. We are currently seeking a **Cost Analyst **to join our expanding McIlvenna Bay project team. This is a full-time position located Saskatoon or Creighton regional offices. This position may be eligible for remote work.

The McIlvenna Bay Cu-Zn-Au-Ag deposit is one of the largest undeveloped VHMS deposits in Canada. Foran recently completed (2022) a feasibility study for the deposit and is undertaking advanced exploration and detailed Engineering activities this year. The McIlvenna Bay deposit’s core commodities are critical for the global transition to green energy and Foran aims to extract these critical minerals in a sustainable manner by empowering local communities, contributing to circular economies and protecting the environment for future generations.

**Cost Analyst - Posting 2024-014**

As part of the Finance Team, the **Cost Analyst **will be responsible for analyzing and controlling costs associated with mining operations, providing accurate financial information, and supporting management decisions. This role involves working closely with various departments to monitor expenses, develop cost analysis reports, and contribute to cost reduction initiatives.

**Responsibilities**:

- Analyze and monitor mining operation costs, including labor, equipment, materials, and overhead.
- Prepare regular cost reports, variance analysis, and cost forecasts for management review.
- Identify cost drivers and opportunities for cost optimization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Ensure adherence to budgetary constraints and track budget performance throughout the fiscal year.
- Provide financial projections and recommendations based on cost trends and analysis.
- Oversee inventory valuation and reconciliation, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
- Perform periodic physical inventory counts and reconcile with financial records.
- Allocate costs to specific mining projects, departments, or cost centers accurately.
- Ensure proper allocation of indirect costs and overhead expenses.
- Collaborate with operations and procurement teams to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Implement cost control measures and monitor their effectiveness.
- Analyze production processes to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Conduct financial analyses, including break-even analysis, return on investment (ROI), and profitability assessments for mining projects.
- Evaluate the financial impact of proposed changes or investments.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal control procedures.
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Maintain and improve cost accounting systems and processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Stay updated on best practices in cost accounting.

**Job Qualifications and Skills**:

- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA certification is a plus).
- 3-5 years previous cost accounting experience, preferably in the mining or manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in financial analysis and cost management software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of financial regulations and accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS).
- Proficiency in spreadsheet software, such as Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is advantageous.

**Compensation and Benefits**:
We offer a competitive starting salary range of $90,000 - $105,000/year based on experience and qualifications.

Annual discretionary short term incentive award at a percentage of base salary, rewarding exceptional contributions to team and company success.
