Withdrawal Management Services (WMS) provides withdrawal management, assessment, referral, and case management services to males and females with substance abuse and associated psychosocial issues in residential, day and community settings within St. Michael’s Hospital and the community. The Withdrawal Management Services are responsible for Central Access for all withdrawal management services and Coordinated Access which is the access point for all addiction services in Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network (TC LHIN).

The Operations Leader - WMS will be responsible for assisting and supporting the WMS Manager in the successful planning, development, administration and smooth execution of daily operations in each area of withdrawal management service delivery.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Overseeing the day to day operations of Withdrawal Management Services’ activities
- Developing and implementing strategies to improve work flow processes for better efficiencies in terms of service delivery, work load, productivity, etc.
- Addressing and working collaboratively with team members to resolve clinical, technical and quality challenges
- Ensuring proper documentation of data and input into Catalyst and other appropriate hospital data repositories
- Orientating new staff to WMS, ensuring staff are familiar with departmental policies, work schedules, code of conduct, standards of practice, etc.
- Identifying and organizing internal and external learning needs for staff
- Participating in quality improvement projects while fostering an environment that promotes best practices
- Collecting data, preparing and submitting statistical reports according to St. Michael's Hospital (SMH), MOHLTC and other outside agency requirements
- Addressing operational issues as they arise; facilitating problem solving and/or dispute resolution
- Responding to patient incidents/complaints and following up with staff to review and improve service and processes
- Working collaboratively with the Manager and Medical Leadership to implement operational plans that are cost effective and will achieve SMH strategic goals and directions
- Identifying emerging issues and opportunities that will advance the practice of Withdrawal Management at SMH
- Assisting in providing feedback for employee performance evaluations
- Scheduling staff and ensuring staffing is maintained at efficient, safe and optimal levels
- Maintaining responsibility for the timely review and accurate entry of staff payroll
- Implementing and overseeing internal and external clinical trials and research projects
- Participating in departmental and Hospital committees, as required

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Health Psychology, Sociology, Humanities, Rehabilitation Services or related field of study
- Ability to be registered in a professional College such as the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers of Ontario, or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario is an asset
- CPR certification required
- 2-3 years of supervisory experience in a unionized environment in a withdrawal management setting or in an intensive case management environment with addiction or concurrent clients is required
- Experience with quality management systems, teaching and research
- Knowledge in the creation and use of spreadsheets, database, word and excel documents
- Knowledge of legislation which may affect operations
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with an ability to inspire team work
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent leadership and multitasking skills
- Excellent problem solving and decision making skills
- Ability to prioritize and delegate operational workload
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions
- Ability to handle stress and conflict management in a professional and effective manner
