**Typical duties will include**:

- Turf maintenance and irrigation work;
- Planting and maintaining perennials and annuals;
- Pruning ornamental and fruit-bearing trees and shrubs;
- Assisting in the construction, renovation, and maintenance of various landscaped and horticultural areas;
- Other related duties as assigned.

**Required qualifications include**:

- Completion of Grade 12;
- Experience in all aspects of general parks labour, including the specific areas noted above;
- Experience operating landscaping equipment such as hedge trimmers, string line trimmers, lawn mowers, front end loaders, tractors, skid steer, utility side-by-side vehicles, commercial woodchippers, and chain saws;
- Physical capability to safely complete continuous manual labour (e.g. bending, shoveling, lifting, pushing/pulling, etc.) in all weather conditions;
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a safe driving record;
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, particularly when dealing with the public;
- Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a team as well as independently;
- Knowledge of safety rules and regulations with a proven track record of working safely;
- Previous experience working in a municipal government setting will be considered an asset.

The terms and conditions of employment are covered by the CUPE Local 401 Collective Agreement. The rate of pay is $26.13/hr ($26.65/hr effective July 1, 2024). Successful applicants will be expected to work 40 hours/week and shifts may include weekends.
