**Job Summary**:
The Junior Estimator is responsible for assisting the Lead Estimator with all day to day estimating and project initiatives including participation in the estimate review and bid wrap up process, within the Maple Ridge office.

**As a Junior Estimator, you will be expected to assist the Lead Estimator with the following tasks**:

- Provide support to the Lead Estimator in establishing and reviewing the scope of work in project documents
- Sending out Requests for Quotations and communicating with subcontractors and suppliers throughout tender period
- Identifying all costs including bonding and insurance
- Preparation of quotation letters and proposals
- Analyzing and comparing subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Preparing takeoffs, sourcing materials and subcontractors, and bid completion
- Reviewing drawings and specifications of bids
- Preparing job bids in a timely manner
- Supporting the project transition process from the point that a bid is awarded until it is comfortably managed by the project management team
- Tracking of tender closing dates and status of award post tender
- Downloading and organizing tender documents and drawings
- Reviewing tender documents to confirm project requirements, scope of work, and other details
- Correspondence tracking, daily job cost tracking, and schedule updating as needed
- Maintaining and updating an accurate bid list
- Other duties as assigned by the Lead Estimator

**Required Skills/Experience**:

- Post-Secondary education preferably in Mechanical Engineering and/or estimating
- 1 to 2 years’ experience within a general contracting environment
- Experience with estimating for process mechanical systems
- Past project coordinating and estimating experience is most desirable with a desire of pursuing an estimating career
- Exposure to mechanical, civil, structural drawings; Ability to read P&ID drawings
- Knowledge of various welding processes and procedures
- Estimating experience with welded steel/stainless steel pipe fittings
- Knowledge of the BC Building Code, Master Municipal Construction Documents (MMCD) and Canadian Construction Association Standards
- Proven competency in the operation of key office software and productivity tools such as: MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project)
- Design-Build experience is an asset
- Knowledge of or B2W Estimating Software is an asset
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Comprehension and understanding of detailed project specifications, supplementary specifications, and industry standards
- Must be accurate with a high attention to details
- Ability to work independently and cohesively with senior management
- Must have reliable means of transportation, as there is no public transit to the office location

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $22.00-$28.00 per hour
