Scarborough, Canada Heritage Skills Development Center Full time

Provide community-based workshops for various audience on topics related to harm reduction, crime prevention, financial management, alcohol and drug prevention, mental health, etc.
- Provide participants with appropriate information and referrals, related to mental and physical health, well-being and navigating the healthcare, legal and educational systems
- Assist with any related workshop activities, including focus groups, and/or telephone interviews
- Provide support to participants
- Maintain up-to-date notes, records and other data as required
- Assist in the facilitation of peer support groups, when required
- Ensure the regular and timely conduct of workshop schedules
- Assist in other program related activities

Qualifications:

- College diploma or equivalent education and experience, with a minimum of three years of experience working in a non-profit organization or other social sectors
- Experience providing educational workshops on a range of topics such as harm reduction, crime prevention, financial management, alcohol and drug prevention, mental health, etc.
- Experience in planning and implementing a series of workshops
- Extensive knowledge or community resources and support for marginalized, newcomer and low-income groups
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a wide range of setting with people from diverse backgrounds, including clients and co-workers
- Experience working with the community is considered an asset
- Works well independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to interact professionally with multiple stakeholders and partners from different cultures
