**Position Title: Program Coordinator - Drop In**

**About Us**

Initiatives for Just Communities (IJC) is a non-profit, charitable organization that operates four community justice programs: El'dad Ranch, Touchstone, Open Circle, and CoSA. These programs support people with intellectual disabilities, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), and those who are currently, or have been previously, incarcerated. IJC is committed to restorative justice practices, which honour the community and foster a sense of belonging.

**The Position**

The Program Coordinator will be a part of our El’dad team. El’dad Ranch is a growing, dynamic, innovative program of Initiatives for Just Communities. El'dad Drop-in Program provides group work, one-to-one support, and mentorship for multiple individuals.

**What you will do**

**Plan and Coordinate**:

- Plan, organize, and coordinate inclusive and accessible, drop-in activities and events for adults with intellectual disabilities.
- Develop a schedule of activities that promote socialization, skill development, and recreational opportunities.
- Create a safe and supportive environment for participants during drop-in sessions.
- Collect feedback from participants and stakeholders to evaluate the effectiveness of the drop-in program.

**Advocate and Communicate**
- Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities within the community.
- Work with participants, families, and other professionals to address challenging behaviors and promote positive alternatives.
- Communicate effectively with participants, their families, and support networks.
- Advise updates for individualized plans for each participant, focusing on personal goals and growth.
- Collaborate with other service providers, professionals, and community organizations to enhance the support network for participants.

**Supervise and Compliance**
- Supervise Direct Support Workers
- Implement and enforce safety protocols, emergency procedures, and relevant policies.
- Maintain accurate records of participant attendance, progress, and any incidents or concerns.
- Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory documentation requirements.
- Read supported participants’ logs, communication books and check the medication/ MAR sheets.
- Review incident reports and work with conflict mediation when needed.
- Report updates to Day Program Manager.
- Be available for the on-call phone rotation.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Required Qualifications**
- Legally able to work in Canada
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and driver's abstract;
- Complete a Criminal Record Check, with a Vulnerable Sector Check and an Adult and Child Abuse Registry check;
- Grade 10 English level skills including interpersonal, oral, and written communication;
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office;
**Assets**
- Three years or more of post-secondary education in a related social services field or the equivalent in work experience;
- Understanding of the issues and challenges associated with intellectual disabilities and FASD;
- Strong desire to work with people who live with intellectual disabilities;
**Position Details**:

- Full-Time - 75 hours bi-weekly
- Mondays to Friday
- Day Shifts: 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm
- Hourly wage between $21.30-23.97
- There will be a three-month probationary period based on accumulated FTE
