The West Coast Region Indigenous Relations Team works closely with Ministry of Forests business lines, our four districts, and in a cross-agency capacity to support consultation processes and reconciliation initiatives with Indigenous communities.

Located on Vancouver Island’s south east coast, Nanaimo offers incredible access to the outdoors with phenomenal local parks, a vast networks of mountain bike trails, and river and ocean fishing; and serves as a gateway to more remote camping, hiking, skiing and watersport adventures.

**Job Requirements**:

- Degree or Technical Diploma related to the natural resource sector (e.g., forestry, resource management, environmental science, law, public administration, social sciences), or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Related and recent (within last 5 years) experience working in natural resource management.
- Recent (within last 5 years) experience working with Indigenous communities and participating in consultation, engagement, and/or negotiation processes.
- Preference may be given to applicants that have:_
- Experience building collaborative relationships with Indigenous communities, in areas of natural resource management or land use.
- Experience undertaking research, writing reports and documents, and presenting results or conclusions.
- Experience in negotiating or facilitating solutions to complex issues and resolving or mitigating conflict.
- Experience working with BC government natural resources statutes, regulation and policy.
- Self-identified as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

**About this Position**:
An eligibility list may be established for future permanent and/or temporary appointments.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home for a portion of the work week, as per a Telework Agreement.
