GFL Environmental is looking for a **Portfolio Administrator, Real Estate Management** to join our growing Real Estate Management team based out of our Yorkville office GFL is a fast-growing, diverse business that owns or operates over 1,000 properties across North America. The Real Estate Management team drives value for the organization by managing the acquisition and divestiture of properties, as well as maintaining accurate records about all existing properties. Both functions require careful coordination with stakeholders across GFL.

Reporting into the SVP, Real Estate, the Portfolio Administrator will need to be driven, ambitious, analytical, and diligent. The role includes support for the SVP in deal making efforts, including engaging senior leadership at GFL and external brokers. It also includes ongoing maintenance of property data within our systems and database to capture changes in business, property use, and property improvements. The maintenance of data integrity through systems administration is critical to risk management and environmental compliance efforts.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Work cross-functionally with multiple departments (e.g., Legal, HR, Health & Safety) to manage real estate lists and ensure relevant information is being captured and current real estate information is available for reporting
- Confirm real estate addresses and administrative information (e.g., leases, agreements) and capture them in a designated software solution
- Work with regional operational leaders on a regular basis to review real estate assets and identify potential acquisitions, consolidations, and divestitures
- Conduct market research to identify potential opportunities
- Engage and develop relationships in various markets (Canada and USA) with real estate brokers and brokerage listing agreements
- Manage the sale process on properties, from identification to closing and associated project management responsibilities - examples of this type of work involves:
1. Identifying brokerage team to represent property

2. Facilitate tours and documentation collection (e.g., environmental Phase 1/2, lease information)

3. Run competitive negotiation processes, as necessary

4. Support legal reviews and Purchase & Sale Agreement negotiations

5. Support closing processes
- Develop processes for managing real property acquired or divested through M&A activity, including validating property information and capturing related documentation (such as environmental assessments) in the designated software solution

**Knowledge, Skills and Competencies**:

- 2-3+ years of progressive administrative work experience, preferably within industrial/commercial real estate sales, leasing or property management
- Experience with real estate portfolio management is an asset
- Experience administering real estate transactions, such as the renewal of leases or the divestiture of properties is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships that encourage information sharing and the identification of opportunities
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to reliably execute recurring processes to update and share information
- Good business acumen and the ability to make sensible recommendations for action
