IMCO is looking for a highly motivated Portfolio Manager, Factor Investing to join our team

As a key member of the Investments team, the Portfolio Manager, Factor Investing will support the Equities and Credit team with a focus on factor investing initiatives. Primary emphasis will be placed on conducting public equity factor research and managing factor portfolios. The objective is to add value over benchmark equity market indices by harvesting risk premia in a systematic fashion. Our approach focuses on transparency, diversification, and risk management. With ample room for internal collaboration, the team are also expected to have opportunities to work on topics beyond equity to cover credit and macro factors.

As a Member of Our Team, You Will be Responsible For:
- Conducting applied research on equity factor investing based on risk premia or behavioral anomalies such as valuation, earnings quality, investor sentiment, etc.- Researching and enhancing portfolio construction methodology, aiming for relatively robust portfolio performance under various market environments- Managing internal equity factor portfolios with the objective to outperform market capitalization-based global equity market indices- Monitoring external factor portfolios’ performance, interacting with external managers, and challenging them when appropriate- Building or improving factor research databases, toolkits, and portfolio management analytics- Collaborating closely with Equities & Credit Portfolio Construction team in conducting portfolio construction research and proposing portfolio completion activities- Partnering with IMCO’s Responsible Investing team on research and portfolio integration of ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) and climate change initiatives- Collaborating on an as-need basis with other investment teams such as Fundamental Equities, High-Conviction External Public Equities, Public Market Alternatives, Global Credit, and Total Portfolio & Capital MarketsWhat do you need to succeed?- 7-10 years of experience with a focus on quantitative equity investments is required- Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics/Statistics, Engineering, Commerce, or other related disciplines- CFA charter holder or progress towards the designation is strongly preferred- Familiarity with one or more of the equity portfolio analytics packages (e.g., BarraOne, Barra Portfolio Manager, Axioma, FactSet Portfolio Optimizer) is strongly preferred- Proficiency of one or more programming languages, including Python, MATLAB, and VBA would be preferred- Hands-on experience in the full cycle of factor research (idea generation, data gathering, model building and interpretation of backtest results) is required- Investor mindset with strong interests in looking after the portfolios and constantly finding ways for improvement- Intellectually curious, thoughtful, and open for compromises, with a “getting-things-done” mentality when dealing with real-world problems- Team player with high integrity- Ability to consistently deliver quality outputs in a fast-paced environment, with an ability to work to tight deadlines and the capability to handle multiple projects and ad-hoc requests simultaneously- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain complex issues in a clear and compelling manner and present information to internal and external stakeholders
