We are seeking a detail-oriented, logical and collaborative team player who will be accountable for supporting the prosecution of matters referred to the College’s Discipline and Fitness to Practise (“FTP”) Committees, and assisting with assessment of prosecutorial viability on cases before the College’s Complaints Committee. The incumbent will assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the department’s compliance program to ensure Member's compliance with suspension of registration, terms, conditions and limitations and other remedial actions imposed by the Discipline and FTP Committees and will occasionally assist in conducting prosecutions and injunction proceedings against unauthorized practitioners.

Reporting to the Manager, In-House Prosecutions, the key areas of responsibility are to:

- Review investigation materials, to ensure risk-based triaging of cases.
- Assist with preparation of prosecutorial viability assessments, by drafting evidence summaries and timelines.
- Communicate with third parties to obtain information required for prosecutions.
- Prepare disclosure to be sent to members or unauthorized practitioners against whom the College is conducting legal proceedings. Review materials collected in the investigation, identify missing, incomplete or misrepresented information and redact confidential information as appropriate.
- Communicate with members and/or legal counsel to explain and facilitate the prosecution process.
- Take notes of witness interviews and discussions with members and/or their counsel.
- Assist in preparation for discipline and fitness to practise hearings.
- Attend and testify at hearings.
- Communicate with members and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with orders made by the Discipline or Fitness to Practise Committees.
- Maintain reminder systems to track timelines and manage correspondence to ensure deadlines on all prosecution files are met.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the department’s compliance program to ensure regulatory compliance, continuous best practices and quality improvements.
- Assist with the collection, monitoring and analysis of data.
- Perform case management activities including: opening and closing files, creating and organizing electronic files, updating the case management system and the tracking and monitoring of compliance matters.

**Qualifications**
- Three-year university or college program.
- Law Clerk diploma program recognized by the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario.
- 3 to 5 years’ experience including practical experience in professional regulation.
- Knowledge and understanding of legal and administrative law principles, and prosecutorial standards and practices.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. _Early Childhood Educators Act_, _2007_, _Provincial Offences Act_), rules of practice, procedure and evidence, legal concepts, terminology and processes as it relates to (1) proceedings before the Committees of the College; (2) appeals and judicial reviews; (3) prosecutions under the _Provincial Offences Act; _(4) injunctions.
- Judgement and analytical skills to conduct legal research and prepare disclosure materials.
- Written communication skills to prepare persuasive and accurate legal and other case related documentation.
- Listening and verbal communication skills to communicate with a variety of parties (e.g. members, legal representatives, court clerks) to convey or obtain information related to cases.
- Time management and organizational skills to self-manage a large amount of cases, and ensure legal documentation and activities (e.g. disclosure, correspondence etc.) are completed within required timelines.
- Interpersonal skills to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools (e.g. CanLII, QuickLaw).
