To perform a leading technical role in materials & processes in support of production and development activities at Comtek.

**Responsibilities**

Production and Procurement Support
- Support all issues involving materials and processes affecting Comtek’s products
- Be familiar with all of Comtek’s products and proactively identify and manage required changes to affected materials and processes, respecting customer requirements and processes.
- Interact with internal and external customers and suppliers as required to address material and process issues, and travel to customer or supplier sites as required.

Material and Process Specifications
- Write new material and process specifications and maintain existing specifications

Qualification and Testing
- Develop and write qualification test plans and reports for new and changed materials and processes
- Execute test plans by performing tests, overseeing tests and coordinating with outside labs
- Provide engineering support for testing activities in Comtek’s test lab and be familiar with all relevant test methods, procedures and test equipment.

Project Management
- Prepare project plans as required
- Ensure the planned technical approach is followed during all project phases.
- Identify and manage scope creep.

Flammability
- Prepare flammability test plans and reports and conduct or manage testing activities
- Maintain familiarity with current flammability advisory material issued by TCCA and the FAA

Research and Development
- Identify, evaluate and document new material and process technologies
- Be informed of material and process developments within the aerospace industry and identify and manage risks and opportunities affecting Comtek materials and processes.
- Interact with external partners and funding agencies as required
- Present at conferences and trade shows as appropriate

Quality System
- Participate in QMS activities such as internal audits, corrective and preventative action, Material Review Board (MRB), and support Quality Assurance as required.

Sales Support
- Assist with the preparation of quotations, bids and proposals and any subsequent project review
- Interact with customers and prospects to discuss material selection issues

General
- Prepare and update concise work instructions, and assist technicians with understanding work instructions as required.
- Prepare and update technical data for review and approval, ensuring airworthiness requirements are satisfied; release approved technical data and revisions as required.
- Review and approve (where appropriate) technical data.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement where appropriate.
- Participate in design and production reviews.
- Additional roles and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the Team Leader, New Product Introduction (NPI).

**Requirements**:

- Degree in materials or aerospace engineering, preferably including significant exposure to advanced composite materials
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in aerospace.
- Project management experience is an asset
- Communication - effective verbal and written communication in English.
- Task Oriented - self-manage workload, establish and communicate priorities according to internal and external customer requirements.
- Detail Oriented - accurately create and interpret technical information.
- Problem Solver - sound analytical and problem-solving skills. Proactively work towards solutions within a dynamic team environment.
- Proactive - identify and manage risks affecting Comtek materials and processes
- Capability and willingness to be hands-on
