Melville, Canada Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation Full time

This position is currently located in our Head Office location in Melville, Saskatchewan, _with consideration for a hybrid work arrangement _**_within Saskatchewan _**. Hybrid Work arrangements will have an expectation to attend in person for the following:

- Onsite divisional meetings
- Training
- Engagement and team collaboration events
- Corporate meetings and events

**What you'll do**:

- The Controller reports to the Executive Director, Finance Accounting and is responsible for managing and reporting financially on all SCIC programs including Crop Insurance and AgriStability, as well as Wildlife Damage Compensation Program and Western Livestock Price Insurance Program. This position is responsible for managing and reporting administratively for all four programs.
- Direct diverse insurance, compensation and reinsurance accounting activities involving managerial decisions.
- Coordinate and prepare SCIC’s insurance, compensation and reinsurance budgeting and forecasting functions.
- Maintain capital asset schedules.
- Prepare quarterly and year-end financial statements along with financial notes and working papers for management, Ministry and the annual report.
- Develop and implement best practices for efficient and effective operation of the accounting unit.
- Review revenues and expenditures for SCIC’s insurance, compensation and reinsurance accounting functions, ensuring activities are carried out in accordance with SCIC’s policies and procedures and sound accounting principles.
- Prepare insurance, compensation and reinsurance financial statements, summaries, review completed reconciliations, working papers, reports, etc. as required.
- Provide accurate and detailed information to the VP of Finance for submission to the Summary Financial Statements to the Ministry of Finance.
- Liaise with External Auditor and the Provincial Auditor to provide working papers for the year-end audit.

**Qualifications**:

- To be successful in this position you will need a degree in Accounting supplemented with a CPA, CA, CMA or CGA designation as well as considerable experience in professional level accounting or auditing.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures in order to perform budgeting, forecasting and accounting functions.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Office and Excel and computer systems to provide accurate and timely financial statements.
- A criminal record check is required.
- Bachelor of Accounting
- Chartered Professional Accountant
