Kitchener, Canada Element Materials Technology Full time

Overview:
Element has an opportunity for an** Environmental Technician** at our Kitchener Lab. Primary responsibility is to assist the regional environmental field services department in environmental testing and reporting at project sites.

**Responsibilities**:

- Physical and materials tests including environmental simulation, durability, tensile, impact, shock, corrosion, vibration, microscopes, data acquisition, signal conditioners and other industry specific testing - Extensive training will be provided
- Assist with materials and product testing including vibration and durability tests, and depending on aptitude, may also design/build modular durability test stands with instrumentation
- Testing of a variety of materials and products including, plastics, metals, automotive, military, aerospace and electronics components and products
- Set-up and verification of test equipment as required
- Review of technical test specifications for Military/Aerospace/Electronics/Automotive (depending on background) including vibration, shock, durability and simulation testing
- Test notes and record keeping with attention to detail per Quality Assurance Manual and Standard Operating Procedures
- Generating Final Reports (from standard template) and computer data entry and Final Report generation - MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and Contact Management System
- Project Management with good understanding of quality systems and procedures in an accredited laboratory
- Project and technical time tracking via computerized time management system with accurate time recording and allocation. All tasks to be estimated with clear due dates prior to commencing
- Assistance and support for testing admin and projects including customer support for on site testing
- Adherence and contribution to Element Quality System and Standard Operating Procedures as assigned
- Assist with planning and execution of projects
- Assist with report preparation
- Assistance with maintenance and calibration of environmental department equipment

Skills / Qualifications:

- Science Graduate or higher qualification
- 2 years relevant experience
- Physical fitness and ability to withstand the challenging working conditions presented by the climbing of stacks and handling heavy industrial
- Strong and determined quality focus with indefatigable determination to get the job done under the most challenging conditions
- Self-motivated team playing with excellent organizational and communication skills
