Job Summary:
The Buyer is an integral part of the team that purchases materials to support production and operations activities. The Buyer main goal is to ensure the plant is always well sourced with the necessary materials to be used for production ensuring there are not shortages and/or overstock. The position includes purchases of indirect materials as required by other departments in the company. The Buyer will also support procurement initiatives and will actively interact with Product Development, Quality Assurance, Finance and Sales. The position reports to the Purchasing Manager.

**Responsibilities**:

- Possess good knowledge of food commodities and packaging including seasonality and geography of products.
- Coordinates all activities related to procurement of an assigned group commodities.
- Assures that the commodities are delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the company.
- Negotiates price to ensure that commodities/Packaging are competitive in the marketplace.
- Search for new suppliers for key commodities/packaging when needed.
- Communicate effectively to all departments and at all levels of the organization in the event of possible shortages.
- Monitor and maintain proper inventory levels, and plan purchases accordingly.
- Execute purchases as per the daily shopping lists.
- Assist Accounting in credit control and any discrepancies on invoices to match internal documentation such as purchase orders, warehouse receipts, etc.
- Contact vendors regarding discrepancies in quantity, price and quality.
- Manage and review open/ new contracts.
- Communicate favorable purchasing opportunities to management.
- Update forecasts for the selected basket of items.
- Support new product launches.
- Maintain awareness of market trends and food safety.
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines

**Experience**:

- 2 years of purchasing experience and 1 year of customer service experience
- Experience working within the food manufacturing is preferred
- CSCMP designation would be an advantage

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $55,000.00-$62,000.00 per year
