Ful Time Program Coordinator

The Program Coordinator is responsible for the implementation, instruction, and coordination of community-based programs in accordance with the Salvation Army mission, values, and standards, and to recruit and manage volunteers to carry out said programs.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Program and Service Responsibilities**
- Represent The Salvation Army Community and Family Services at community meetings as needed.
- Network and refer to The Salvation Army or community social service providers to coordinate resources for the benefit of clients and program, when necessary.
- Assess community needs and review client feedback to determine potential programing and develop a strategy for the implementation of such programs.
- Ensure the ministry objectives are consistently accomplished and that a spiritual focus is applied to all program initiatives.
- Ensure that all duties are completed in accordance with the principles, standards, policies, and procedures of The Salvation Army.
- Assist the Community and Family Services Manager with ongoing strategic planning to ensure programming reflects client need as these may evolve in our changing socioeconomic climate.
- Work with the Community and Family Services Manager to ensure that programs (including program reviews, inspections, and audits) meet contractual, legal, and internal requirements.
- Serve as a resource person to the Community and Family Services Manager in matters of community relations.
- Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.
**Volunteer Coordination**
- Manage community volunteers which includes their recruitment, orientation, scheduling, monitoring performance.
- Develop goals and objectives for the volunteer program; implement and review of policies and procedures relating to the volunteer program.
- Develop volunteer assignment descriptions and other appropriate materials to guide volunteers in their overall performance.
- Create and assist in presentations promoting volunteer opportunities to corporations, schools and the public as required.
- Monitor the performance of all volunteers to ensure high quality services are provided to our clients and other departments.
- Provide visibility for The Salvation Army within the community through relationships with people and corporations in our community.
- Ensure divisional standard followed for all volunteers.
**Team Management**
- Responsible for the direct management/supervisory staff and non-supervisory staff; provide direction regarding tasks or consult in assignments.
- Oversee and/or directly manage effective human relations practices in consultation with Human Relations or designate.
- Provide significant input into all human resource decisions, including hiring, orientating, training, evaluating, recognizing, disciplining and performance managing in consultation with Human Relations and in compliance with Divisional and Territorial standards.
- Work with the management/supervisory team to develop and implement approaches that promote staff engagement and retention.
- Facilitate and actively support the dissemination and cross-fertilization of information, knowledge, and skills.
- Submit and act on incident reports, deal with staff and client complaints, advising/consulting Divisional Human Relations as needed.
- Grow, develop, and coach direct reports.
- Ensure all staff are trained and follow best practices, policies, procedures, and protocols.
**Communication and Reporting**
- Ensure consistent communication by participating in regular meetings with Community and Family Services Manager.
- Ensure all client files and statistics are accurately entered and completed on time for all areas of responsibility.
- Attend and participate in trainings and meetings as required by the Ministry Unit, Divisional and Territorial Headquarters
- Provide organized, concise, and timely reports and feedback regarding community meetings to the Community and Family Services Manager.
**Seasonal Program Responsibilities**
- **Christmas**
- Provide oversight of the Christmas Kettle Fundraising Campaign, including supervision of the Kettle Coordinator
- Coordinate the Christmas Toy Distribution Program (in consultation with the Community Ministries Coordinator)
- Coordinate any Christmas Community Dinners (in consultation with the Community Ministries Coordinator)
- Develop relationships that will provide opportunities to recruit volunteers and solicit donations.
- **Summer Camp**
- Ensure camp quotas are met and children are transported to camp as required.
- Develop and carry out plan for connecting with camp attendees throughout the year.
- **Income Tax Clinic**
- Provide oversight to the tax clinic program, including supervision of Tax Clinic Worker.
**Administration**
- Maintain the volunteer database as well as any required paperwork in keeping with Salvation Army policies and procedures.
