Distribution & Logistics Support

The role of the Distribution & Logistics Support ("D&LS") is to ensure that The Victoria Rainbow Kitchen Society is operating under its mandate to "Feed People". Reporting directly to the _Distribution & Logistics Supervisor_, the D&LS is responsible for supporting all food based systems within the organization. The D&LS will directly assist in the ordering, receiving, pick-up and distribution and preparation of all food products, keep our pantries, freezers and receiving areas clean and orderly as well as help to ensure our offerings and assistance meets the needs of our guests and community partners. Work is performed on-site Monday-Friday approximately 9:30am-1:30pm.

- **Wages**:_$20.20/hour_
- **Vacation**_: does not accrue, paid out each pay cycle to the equivalent of 2 weeks vacation (or 4%)._
- **Phone Reimbursement**:_ _$20/month_
**Primary Duties**:
- Following the lead of the D&LS, timely receiving and sorting of deliveries.
- Accurate tracking of inventory and allocation processes for various programs.
- Lead adherence to FoodSafe standards and maintain a safe and clean workspace.
- Support volunteer management with training and task clarity. Encourage communication, involve volunteers in decisions, manage feedback and appreciation.
- Maintain confidentiality and safeguard private information.
- Support with administrative duties as requested and in the absence of the D&LS.
- Person on call for driving company van for deliveries and pickups.
- Maintaining a clean driving record and class 5 Driver's License.
- Any other duty deemed as necessary for the operations of the organization, from time to time.
**Skills and knowledge**:
- Passion for providing a warm and caring environment for both our Volunteers and Guests.
- Knowledge of current food safe standards (training provided).
- Ability to work independently without supervision, and make timely decisions as required.
- Sense of humour.
- Highest level of organizational and attention to detail in tight work spaces.
- Highest level of cleanliness standards in all food storage and work spaces.
- Ability to delegate, and maintain prioritization of tasks on specific schedules.
- Ability to work with a variety of personalities.
- Appropriate use of tact and diplomacy when dealing with Volunteers and Guests.
- Communicates respectfully, at all times with everyone at Rainbow Kitchen.
- Possess excellent verbal communication skills.
- Ability to support and encourage others in their work.
- Ability to maintain healthy relationships and communication with food donors.
- Ability to lift up to 50 Lbs. unassisted, repeatedly without issue.
- Ability to work outside in the exposed weather appropriately.
- Assisting in other Kitchen duties (washing dishes, helping breakdown meals and mealtime services, or set up for evening rentals, etc.)
**Qualifications**:
- Must be willing to embrace the Mission Statement of Victoria Rainbow Kitchen Society
- Class 5 driver's license FoodSafe Certificate Level 1 WHMIS Certification
- First Aid Certificate an asset
- Conflict resolution training an asset
- Previous experience in the hospitality or food service industry an asset.
