**Description**

This position reports to the Program Manager, Data Science, who leads the execution of the Comprehensive Data Accelerator plan. The normal shift is 17.5 hours per week (0.5 FTE). Overtime is rarely expected but can occur due to system failures that require a callout or overtime for other deadlines.

The Data Analyst will perform analysis and visualizations on diverse datasets, conduct analysis on new and existing machine learning model performance, and support the deployment of our machine learning technology stack in support of the One Child Every Child (OCEC) Project, a Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF) initiative, with a vision for all Canadian children to be the healthiest, most empowered and thriving in the world.

One Child Every Child is a Parallel Paths project that has Indigenous and non-Indigenous Paths. All members of the program will perform training on work with Indigenous people, communities and data. Experience with Indigenous community-based work is an asset for members of the OCEC research team.

**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
Data Analysis (75%):

- Performs data cleaning and statistical analyses (including analysis of longitudinal data)
- Searches, obtains, and reviews literature to determine appropriate analytical techniques as required
- Prepares detailed and summative reports with visualizations for internal review, scientific presentation, and research manuscript
- Interprets and communicates complex findings to internal and external stakeholders from various backgrounds Uses technical skills to solve problems encountered during data manipulation and analysis through use of best practices and established processes and procedures

Machine Learning Development (25%):

- Evaluate the ROI of new and existing machine learning models
- Conduct feasibility studies for deploying new and existing machine learning models
- Provide comparative analyses and recommendations for production-level machine learning model deployments

**Qualifications / Requirements**:

- BSc in a quantitative field such as mathematics, physics, or statistics, or related training
- 3-5 years of relevant work experience
- Strong communication, organization, time management, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated commitment to accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent analytics skills with tools such as PowerBI, Python, R, Matlab, SAS, and/or SPSS
- Ability to work well independently, and as part of a team
- Effective communication of statistical ideas both oral and written to health researchers
- High degree of judgment, analytical, and problem-solving skills
