TRCA’s Maple Syrup Festival - 2023
Each year in Ontario, a remarkable natural event takes place as maple sap, frozen solid over the long, cold winter, starts to thaw and the maple tapping season begins.

Come work on our 2023 Maple Syrup Festival. We have opportunities to work on our demonstrations, on engaging in activitiesand, of course, to talk about real maple syrup Special family fun activities on weekends and March break.

**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:
The Education Interpreter delivers hands-on environmental, cultural heritage, nature and recreation programs to visitors and visitor groups at Bruce’s Mill during the Maple Syrup Festival.

The Education Interpreter plays an active role in customer service ensuring all visitors and external clients have a positive experience.

**Major Responsibilities**:
**Perform the following tasks under general supervision**:

- Learns program content to be able to effectively deliver interactive programs to various audiences.
- Guides and leads visitors and visitor groups along the Maple Syrup Trail to educate them about the historical process of making maple syrup and related topics.
- Leads a station along the Maple Syrup Trail and delivers interactive programming during the festival
- Provides support in program development by sharing knowledge of the content
- Ensures program equipment and supplies are well maintained, clean and appropriately stored
- Follows all safety policies, operating procedures and guidelines as outlined in TRCA Safety Procedures.

**What will you need to succeed**:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
- Actively pursuing or possess a post-secondary degree/diploma in a related field.
- Active and current First Aid and CPR certificate is an asset

Experience
- Two years’ experience working with children in a group setting.
- Experience working with large groups in delivering programs and activities required.
- Previous experience delivering environmental, nature or historical programs.

Knowledge/Skill/Ability
- Strong public speaking and communication skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
- Ability to deliver programs to audiences of various ages, adapting style to ensure audience appropriateness
- Advanced knowledge of natural history, maple syrup production or environmental related disciplines is an asset
- Strong customer service skills
- Willingness to wear uniform or possibly costume related to programs as required
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Screening is required
