An exciting **Temporary Full-Time** opportunity as a **Research Assistant II**exists in the Women’s College Hospital Research and Innovation Institute, reporting to the Principal Investigator. This position is with the Hereditary Cancer Research Unit of WCRI.
**Summary of Duties, but not limited to**:
- Assists in the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data and the interpretation of results which includes reviewing medical charts.
- Participates in the review of data collection strategies
- Generates response curves, status reports and other statistical reports as required.
- Assists in the preparation of submissions to the Research Ethics Board.
- Prepares detailed notes of all interactions with participants.
- Completes data entry and quality control ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data collection; may investigate missing or invalid data and prepare data sets; may assist in the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data and the interpretation of results.
- Participates in the review of data collection strategies.
- Completes review of medical records to collect research data.
- Assist with grant writing and submissions; prepare forms, budgets, appendices and other documents as required
- Assist with submission of manuscripts to scientific journals - may involve creating tables, figures, proof reading, preparation of cover letter, coordinating documents to sign, electronic submission
- Helps maintain research files to store, access, and retrieve study data as specified at one or more sites
- May assist team members with preparing materials for proposals, progress reports, presentations, and publications
- Provides assistance with the modification and maintenance of electronic and paper information, filing/ retrieval methods, systems and/or formats.
- May act as a primary contact person for research participants, conducting telephone, online, or in-person recruitment interviews to collect study participant data including obtaining informed consent; thus, experience consenting participants into research studies preferred.
- May provide functional guidance to Research Trainees, Research Assistants and/or Volunteers.
- Communicates with Research Manager, Coordinator, and/or Principal Investigator(s) to provide updates (as appropriate).
- Schedules and attends research meetings, including preparing agendas and meeting minutes.
- Prioritizes and monitors various study deadlines for their own work.
- Provides other administrative support as required, including filing, photocopying, acquiring signatures and CV maintenance.

**Qualifications/Skills**:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Health Sciences, Public Heath or a related field.
- 1-3 years of related experience working in a hospital or academic setting.
- Ability to work somewhat independently with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Experience with medical chart reviews
- Experience in cancer research / understanding of cancer biology preferred
- Works efficiently under pressure with strong judgement and decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment with a wide variety of people at different levels.
- Strong problem solving and analytic skills; works well independently, uses good judgement and takes initiative
- Good understanding of research design and research ethics.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to PHIPA.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Previous experience with REDCap an asset.
