Remote, Canada School Mental Health Ontario Full time

**Remote **_**(within Ontario, CA)**_

**Role: Prevention and Early Intervention Consultant**

School Mental Health Ontario (SMH-ON) works together with Ontario school districts to support student mental health. As a provincial implementation support team, SMH-ON provides leadership, resources, implementation coaching and a community of practice in order to promote the uptake, scaling, and sustainability of evidence-based, implementation-sensitive, culturally-responsive, identity-affirming practices in school mental health. SMH-ON serves the 72 English and French school boards in Ontario, remote school authorities, and provincial demonstration schools. The team works alongside the Ministry of Education and has a role within the wider system of care, linking with partner ministries and organizations to advance child and youth mental health.

We are currently hiring for two roles:
(1) **Prevention and Early Intervention Consultant (English)
- **_**PreVenture in Schools **_and

(2) **Prevention and Early Intervention Consultant (French)
- **_**PreVenture in Schools**_**.**

The duties for the two roles are largely the same. The English consultant would primarily support English-language school boards, and the Bilingual (French/English) consultant would primarily support French-language school boards. Both consultants would work closely together to ensure quality and consistency of PreVenture implementation and scale-up across Ontario school boards.

**The role includes, but is not limited to**:
Provide leadership for the _PreVenture in Schools_ project, in close partnership with YWHO, to support the expansion of _PreVenture in Schools_ across Ontario. This involves strong project management and liaison between the project team and school boards. Participate in regular project team meetings.

Provide ongoing implementation support for early adopter boards, as they join the _PreVenture in Schools_ project. This involves individual board support, as well as facilitation of an ongoing PreVenture community of practice.

Work closely with SMH-ON Implementation Coaches in boards who are involved with the _PreVenture in Schools_ project, to ensure integrated support that aligns with the board mental health and addictions strategy and action plan. Provide routine communication about the _PreVenture in Schools_ project with the wider SMH-ON team.

Participate in the train-the-trainer process with YWHO colleagues so that, in time, it is possible for SMH-ON to offer training to school mental health professionals in _PreVenture,_ to enhance the scalability and sustainability of this program.

Support the evaluation and measurement of _PreVenture in Schools_ by helping to facilitate student and facilitator satisfaction surveys, offering consultation and support on board-level evaluation reports, and assisting with implementation evaluation activities.

Complete administrative responsibilities related to the _PreVenture in Schools_ project, including support for board orientation presentations, community of practice meetings, and follow up related to board queries and concerns.

Support the work of the SMH-ON Prevention and Early Intervention Team. Attend regular SMH-ON team meetings. Complete tracking forms, an annual action plan and other administrative tasks, as required.

**Qualifications**:
Regulated mental health professional in good standing with an Ontario professional college (e.g., CPO, OCSWSSW, CRPO), registered to practice with children, youth and families, with a minimum of Masters-level education in social work, psychology, or other health/social service discipline.

At least two years of experience working within a school board setting in the role of school mental health professional, ideally in a management capacity (or with demonstrated system and project management experience).

Applicants for the **Prevention and Early Intervention Consultant (French)

Strong knowledge and experience in the area of substance use prevention, including a solid understanding of Ontario’s mental health and addiction system and related services. Experience with cognitive-behavioural therapy and motivational interviewing is considered an asset.

Demonstrated commitment to principles of equity, inclusion, anti-racism, respect and social justice. Experience in serving racialized communities, and those with identities that have been historically/presently disadvantaged and marginalized is considered an asset. Commitment to using strength-based, healing-centered approaches, with critical reflection part of regular practice. Maintain a learning stance and respond to student mental health needs in ways that are identity-affirming and culturally responsive.

Familiarity with implementation science, quality improvement, change management and project coordination/ management. Strong interpersonal, communication (oral/written), and organizational skills are required. Experience in fundamentals of coaching, facilitation, and the delivery
