Reporting to the Building Science Engineers (ENG/Sr. ENG) of the Building Science Group (BSc), the Engineer-in-Training (EIT)/Building Science Technologist (BST) is required to conduct inspection, testing and reporting associated with the identification of building envelope failures, structural deficiencies and other building-related failures that may arise from chronic deterioration, construction or material deficiencies and catastrophic events (e.g. wind, water or fire damage), etc. Projects will include a mix of residential, multi-family, and commercial projects, with an emphasis on repair of damage from fire, wind, flood, and impacts, as well as adaptive reuse of older buildings. The EIT/BST may also be involved in determining appropriate corrective measures and providing site verification and documentation that such measures have been properly implemented by contractors. You must be able to balance several projects simultaneously and be detail orientated. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are essential.

**Responsibilities**:
Perform property condition assessments (PCA’s) of multi-residential, commercial, and institutional facilities and preparation of reports and reserve fund studies

Perform field investigation work and the diagnosis of building problems required to design exterior envelope remediation including exterior wall, fenestration, roof and/or structural remediation

Assist in performing leak investigations of all aspects of building envelope, roofs, walls, windows and foundations

Assist in carrying out field review of construction work in progress on both new and restoration projects and report on progress and the contractor’s adherence to contract documentation

Working knowledge of AutoCAD and specification writing

Will require Working at Heights training including accessing buildings by ladders, swing stages and mechanical lifts.

**Salary**: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- On call
- Overtime

Supplemental pay types:

COVID-19 considerations:
Some clients require technicians to be fully vaccinated in order to gain access to their properties. Must be prepared to enter into work area sites fully masked if requested.

**Education**:

- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)

**Experience**:

- building science: 1 year (required)
